How much does a dealer usually charge to have a aftermarket piston and boring(ex: JE 10:8:1 416) done to a 400ex?

i started to have a cylinder bored one time by a dealer here in amherst and they wanted 200 bucks, i told them they could stick that cylinder up there :eek:


find ya a local engine shop to do it, should only be bout 65 to 85 bucks

Well, I emailed my dealer and they emailed me back and here's what they said:

Labor would run $231.00 plus gaskets and fluids on top end either way. If you want oversized piston boring cylinder would run $60.00.

That doesn't seem so bad. What do ya'll think?

dont forget the piston itsself, which is another 120 bucks, then when they open up your engine they may be like oh this needs replacing, this amd that does too. just a thought
