I would recomend getting some bass blockers for them too. Especially if you have subs. Just about every kind of 5x7 speaker I have ever owned sounded like crap after a year or so. I guess I keep hoping each sey is better than the last but they never are. Ive had sets of clarion ,jl audio, rockford fosgate, and eclipse and they have all started buzzing.

Actually they should be 6x8's. 5x7's do work though. I'd recommend a good 3 way for the front doors.

Kenwood, Rockford, Kicker make some excellent door speakers.

Here's a couple. Speakers (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-UvlBm507x81/cgi-bin/ProdComp.asp?g=52200&c=10&s=0&cc=01&pt2=0&ITM113KFC6889=on&ITM20602K57=on&ITM575FRC4368=on&IMAGE4.x=23&IMAGE4.y=4)

Most Ford's, especially the trucks, use 5x7's.

do youself a favor and cut a little to fit some 6 1/2's in there useing MDF board to mount them and get them to seal.
How much are you looking to spend? And will the door speakers be ran off of your deck or an amp?

thanks for the replies. i am running them off my deck which is a pioneer 3500 w/ 200watts rms i believe. i am not worried about the rear speakers, just the doors. i have seen alot of good speakers on ebay that are cheap and new, "kickers, rockford, ect." and im def. getting the 3 ways. and about the bass blockers, ive never heard of them, but would my local audio store have them? thanks
Ben

Yeah your local car audio place should have them , there pretty cheap and mount inline with the + wire going into the speaker.

Maybe your stereo has a hi pass filter built in? If it does keep it at 100 or 120. If your stereo has a hi pass filter you wont need the bass blockers.

PLEASE dont get 3-ways or 4-ways or 5-ways. They are all gimick. Believe me, been there done that! I've spent thousands on audio equipment for my truck and currently have it torn apart yet AGAIN! hehe
kicker, fosgate, audiobahn, and kenwood and ALL not what I would EVER buy. If you actually know what your talking about in car audio, you'd agree. They are all decent, but for the money you can get much much better. Kinda like the difference between Lonestar and Laeger.
You deck is probably pushing 22wrms. If you would like to spent about $60 for some really nice coaxils, get the CDT 6 1/2's. They are AWESOME for the price and will work great on 22wrms, and even better with more power.

Bass blockers are not needed for these

Yup the round speaker is a better design overall.

Uhhhh, yeah FORD DOORS ARE 6 x 8's.........BUT 5x7's do work.

Yes, components are ALOT better, and 6 1/2's do sound better when building a system. But if he's just looking to upgrade from stock without too much work, then drop in a decent set of 6x8's, but that's just my opinion. 2 way, 3 way's, I could notice alittle bit of difference. I have 2 way's in the rear, and 3 ways up front. Fronts are alittle more crisper, wether that has to do with the speaker design or not....I don't know.

6x8's don't sound bad at all. They still have a decent woofer design to them.

They do make plates to mount in you stock holes, that will accept 6 1/2's, if you want to go through the aggravation.
