im gonna say 400ex cuz of its higher level of reliability and quality over the z/kfx. also i like how they handle better and feel lower to the ground.:macho

I would say take the Z400. It is alot pepier than the 400ex and is a little quicker, but be ready to do some maintenance and have stuff break cuz the Suzuki isnt buillt to good. Take the Honda if you dont mind being a little slower but it should run forever.

i would say sit oneach of them one because just sitting on a z would make my decision.. ( at least i think, i still have not clarified that the z400 and the arctic cat sit the wame way).

either way i say the 400ex.. only thing the z has over the ex isthat its liquid cooled, but you can get away w/o that

they are both great bikes its all a matter of personal preference

400ex, you cant notice the power difference. Its built better. ITs more reliable. And its a HONDA

"buy a Z the 400ex is outdated and crap! unless highly modified"... So, why do you own a 250R? not to start something, just curious. seems everything can and will be beat by something, the new 450's will end up being beat by some new technology in another 2 years,ect.ect., its not really whats outdated, and such, just whats best for you at the time being. my 2 cents.-darren

Depends on how much $$$ you have to spend. I think the new Z400, is closer to a race ready quad then a 400ex is. If you have some spending cash, the 400ex will be a better MX quad then a z400, if you put an equal amount of money into both. It's a pretty good toss up between the two, and I'd be just as happy with a Z as I would with my 400ex. Don't listen to all the whiners on this site, that think if it's not a honda it sucks. Some stuff from all brands isnt as good as others.

id say go for the 400ex...the Z400 has too many problems...my friend was at a dealer the other day and they were comparing the z400 to the 400ex and the Z has a bad swingarm and bad a-arms it has a weak frame...id rather lose a tiny bit of power and save sum money to get a 400ex instead of fix problem after problem on a piece of chit suzuki:grr:

I helped put my buddies Walsh Kfx together alittle bit and i did not like anything about it at all. My dad has a 400ex and yes, it doesn't have the power of my stock yfz, but now piped and lid off, but it is a trusworthy base for anything. Get the 400ex. If you are worried about Z/KFX beating you in jumping, through the woods or something. Learn how to ride it better.

So how much will the 2005 400EX be if it's $500 cheaper?

The Z400 might have reverse and be barely quicker but I'd rather get a 400ex and have the best quality. Also, you save like $500 when you get the Honda. Put that $500 into your engine(400ex) and you'll blow the z400 away.

the z 400 is junk i saw a 400ex and a z400 hit both 04s and the z400s a arms where touching and the tire was touchiong the engine and the 400ex is fine and io have a ex it it feels more comfortable than the z

are you insane dude
you must be kidding if you think gust is riding a stock z
its actually a 450,449cc
and he gets a new one after every couple races
and its far from stock
as far as whats better they are both great quads so get what you want
and my z ive never had a single problem with it exept for the chain adjuster but nothing serious
i dont really like the ex's rear shock set up
the z has better suspension especially the new ones with rezzis
my 2cents
