what quad should i get

im debating either a 400ex or a z400.. it will be my first quad, so i prolly wont mod it except for exhaust,jet,k&n nerfs and tag x5 bars.. but i only have $2500.. i can buy a used 400ex right now or i can buy a used z400 for $3500 in cycle trader.. both would be an 03 model.. whats best for me? or should i buy a brand new one, put a down payment of 2500 and pay monthly?

im in almost the same situation as you, but i have about $1700 in the bank and my dad owe's me about $300 so when i get alittle over $2000 im gonna put that as a down payment on an 04 new 400ex

why dont you buy a used 400ex for like $3000?

Im in the same pickle as u. Im may go 4 the z400 cause they seem alot faster. And the 400's are kinda like dinosaurs.

jumbo just for the heck of it, i was lookin thro cycle trader and saw brand new 04 450r for $4988 OTD, jw how much was urs.. if only i had another $2500.. jumbo ur right ima get a used 400ex for like 3k..:D

but then for another $500 i can get a z400, this is why im debating.. is a z400 really better then an ex that i should spend another 500??:huh

For what it's worth...I'm not sure how modified you want your quad, but around here built EX's and Z's are going pretty cheap.

Many 416's, 426's, and 440's can be had for as low as $3000.

idk what it is but the frame problem on the z400's just scare me. I dont know if its not enough to worry about or wut, i just feel better with the 400ex's reliabililty. Even though i would love to have liquid cooled plus the Z is alittle quicker, but idk.

And it will be my first quad and yes i know how to ride so i just want to get a new one so i can get a manual and warranty and stuff, and so I can break it in and know wuts it been through.

this is where ill prob go to get the 400, its cheaper then my local dealership, but this is only like a 50 min. drive for me
