How good will 400ex a-arms work on my 250x with the stock 250x shocks and 400ex tie-rods? I know it will cause bump steer. Would that be hard to correct? I know this is cheap but i want to widen my front end about 1" or 2" inches to match the rear. I dont race and I dont want to buy wheel spacers. I dont have $350 and I can get 400ex arms for $30. Would this work ok? Please help.

Some will say this mod will do awesome. Some say it will have poor results. Pm Jeff@thequadshop. Im pretty sure he has tried this and knows the results. Correct me if im wrong but you will need 400ex shocks, A-arms, tie rods, and spindles to do the front end swap. But since i havent done it i have no more info for you ;)

nope all you need is 400ex arms n tie rods to bolt them up.....to use the 400ex shocks you have to have a custom bracket.......jeff always has a good reason for it being so bad so ask him or search it

The 400ex conversion is no good. Do some research before you try it. I found out the hard way. I know I'll get slack for saying this but...even the wheel spacers would be better. I would just avoid the spacers that make you have to use longer studs. There are a pain in the ***. Otherwise you are better off saving for the proper parts. You can find used a arms and works/elkas on here now and then.

I had the 400 front end on my 300 and i thought it was terrible. the only positive for me was that i could take flat cornors a little faster. i really noticed the bump steer. If you want a cheap front end just spend to money of some used aftermarket shocks. I think the best way to go is buy aftermarket 300 arms and use 400ex shocks with the relocator.

I once had a Blaster that I just simply flipped the wheels around and gained about 2". Different backspacing.

Ok, thanks alot, I never thought of just flipping the wheels, its free and takes 5 minutes. Thanks.:p

If you flip the wheels you are creating a lot of problems. It is moving the point where the center of the tire touches the ground out farther than where the point the spindles angle is. This creates way more bump steer than the conversion does. The bracket that everyone is using relocates the angle of the stock shock position which creates different movement ratios on the shocks and the puts the valving off. I did my own conversion and made my own a-arms which used the stock shock angle and it well out handles a stock 400ex by far. Here are a couple pictures. I can do this conversion for about $200 to your stock 400ex lower a-arms. I used all chromoly steel tubing and gussets and everything was TIG welded in.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/ab****/Projects/250xlongtravelarms05.jpg

ab****, are u using the 300 spindles or the 400s? did that set up get rid of the light front end feeling too? i know 300s have light front ends in the first place but when i put the 400 shocks on it it made it feel even lighter.

The light front end probably has to do with your sag setting. I would turn the rear shock preload down to raise the rear end up and transfer the wieght to the front. Mine turns very predictable and doesn't push in the corners.
