Hey my buddy just let me hook up his system in my basement and we tried using the reciever and it wont work. You turn it on and it comes on and says Power Off right away? So we took it to are local soundseller and there wasnt any fuses blown so they guy said its the power box or something like that. Anyone know what else it might be that could be cheap or an easy fix? i would like to fix it. The system is a pioneer reciever, sony cd player, jbl 12 inch subwoofer, 2 jbl 15s. We have my old weak receiver hooked up now and it cant power the 15s good but the sub is loud as hell:eek2: . Thing just plain pounds the whole damn house. But i would like to combine the 15 bass also. so if you have any ideas on what that could be info is appreciated.

If you haven't already, take the reciever and plug it into another outlet. The other day I was at my friends house and he tried to use a vcr and it would stay on for a moment and then shut off. So he thinks it's just that the vcr is broken so he goes and swipes the vcr from his mom's room and that one didn't work either, it did the same thing. Until I, being the genius that I am, suggested that he try another outlet. Then it worked.

my friend had something similar to that, and it had a mind of its own. it would play when it wanted to. Then if we held the thing a certain way it would play. I think his was just a terd out of the bunch.

Lots of cars have 15" subs, and some even have 18" with a hell of alot more amps than your lil home stereo is putting out.

Your home stereo is what 'maybe' 500w?

Well heres a civic with 2, 18"s .... 3000w to the subs and a total of 4300w for the whole system.... and he owns a 400ex.:D

Heres his website...

Not only do the car stereo systems have more power going to them they also reach a much lower db rating. This part I could never figure out unless you like being deaf. I personally have a Difintive Technology system. The sub alone has 3 12's with a 1500 watt amp and their BP 2004 series tower speakers. They also have built in subs. (Yeah I like bass) Now if you you pack all those in a tiny space (like a car) it would be pretty amazing.
