My 87 'r has the stock length swing arm. I am getting ready to spend some cash and get a long travel setup for the front and some Elka shocks. My question is; Should I shorten or get a 1" shorter swing arm? How does this affect the handling? I know if it is the 88-89 length I need +1 forward arms, what if I leave it stock, do I still need them to be +1 forward, or do they need to be 0 forward.

Thanks in advance.

I would get the -1" swingarm. Much better weight distribution. You also hook up better.

I would go with the -1 swinger and get the +1 forward a-arms. If you stay with stock swinger you do not want +1 forward a-arms.
