I got a new gibson sterring damper but it did not come with instructions and I am not sure how or where to mount it to, I know it nounts to the stem. Any info would be helpful.

One clamp mounts to your stem, and the other end clamps to the front of your frame (the place where most people put their rezzies from their suspension). If somebody posted ANOTHER pic of muffs 400ex, you can see how he mounted his denton.

after fiddling with mine for an hour or two, i found this to be the best way to mount it. remove the black frame bracket off the stabilized with that one allen head bolt, mount the frame bracket onto your frame as I have. Next turn your bars full lock to the right, and mount the stem clamp on. Slide the U-bracket down the stabilizer body approx. 1.5" and bolt that back up to the frame bracket.

once you get it everything tighened, make sure the stabilizer does not bind at all when the bars are turned, if it does bind you will bend the shaft!
