Pappy

i think the duncan looks great, but for Xc it offers almost no protection IMO:(

07-27-2004, 08:04 AM
yes...I also heard of the overheating problem too but it wasnt untill after I ordered it...I dont ride slow though so we'll see if my light comes on..does every1 really have the blingstars? I havent seen one yet where I ride? ill take ur word on it though

ye i guess it true pappy...o well as long as i don't hit any trees ill be fine...i have more important things to worry about on my quad now, like getting it to start, lol

UglyMotha™

ya I really don't think that duncan would serve much more protection than a coat hanger, if I had been running that bumper the tree would have more than likely trashed my frame

JDiablo
07-27-2004, 08:08 AM
i guess it is out of the question then...lol well ugly post a pic of your quad so we can *visualize* what bumper would look good on there

I have an AC stadium on my EX and like it a lot other that it didn't line up well at all. If I was to buy one right now I'd get the IMS bumper.

I love my Duncan racing bumper, but I think you are right it doesnt give a great deal of protection. I got it for looks:rolleyes:

The only other choices in my eyes are the I.M.S. bumper and the A.C. race. Just my opinion.

I think that there are soo many bumpers out there, that it is really hard to decide whitch one to buy, The pro-arrmors are good, And so are the PRM's. The Duncan bumpers that u-all where talkin about earlier on in this thread are super tough. But like u said they hardley protect anything!
If we buy a good tough bumper, then you'd have to worrie about tweaking your frame instead of the bumper giving, Or if you buy a cheaper bumper then when u hardley touch anything with it, it looks like crap, But i feel that you can buy alot of cheap bumpers for the cost of ONE frame! I would buy a bumper that matches your riding style, If your pretty confident that u wont hit a tree that often get somthing good, But if your gona be out there and hit stuff somtimes it might be worth your money to get somthing a little cheaper, Aluminum!

I love the look of the Duncans!! But id say anything chrome or polished!!!!!!, Id spend money on shocks or some smaller tire or wheels first for MX!

Get the things you need for mx first (TIRES) before the things for looks (BUMPER)

yeh dont make the mistake i did and fix ur bike up and then the last thing u get is a bumper. i still have the stock one. when people ask i just say u gotta remember where u came from.

For xc use I prefer the prm's for two reasons: 1) the solid plate of aluminum that makes up the front has a nice slope to it that pushes the bike up and over obstacles. 2) this same piece wraps underneath and goes back over the frame by an inch or so. This helps for tucking your belly skid up under it.

I looked at the pro amours, but I feel the front plate is too vertical if you come into contact with something. Also, I think the top bar is too high to lift from for many situations - imagine being knee deep in mud - nice to have more than one place to grab onto.

Lastly, you want a bumper that will break. I would much rather replace an $80 part than tweak a frame.
