Those rotax motors are tough! The only advantage you have is a lighter quad, and a faster revving motor. But he has more horsepower. Get the holeshots down, powershift, good luck.

I have some videos of yfz's and 450R's against DS 650's,,, and the DS wins. But as soon as you do something other than go in a straight line (thats what a banshee is made for).....you will leave him.

I raced a DS 650 with a big bore 720 kit and beat him, not by much but i took him. I also raced a realy worked DS650 with a stage III RonWood 690 kit, this thing was really fast over 60Hp, and I lost by 2 bike lengths. I don't see a problem beating a stock DS650, as long as you have your airbox opened and your bike is jetted.

I raced a piped one in a 170 ft flat drag the other day at the fair and won fairly easily, stock for stock you might have a battle on your hands in a longer race.

I had an 03 DS650 baja before i got my 450r and you could probably take it stock for stock. The DS is even more bottled up from factory then the 450r. I was quite dissapointed with the power of my old DS when i first got it, but then all i had to do was add a Mr.Hp endcap and it was like night and day difference. The DS may have a few more ponies but it weighs about a 120lbs more, so you should take it.

the only quads that seem to beat me consistently are hookeed ***** banshees and a craptor with about ten grand into it.

watch out though anything with a extended swingarm has a good advantage.

I raced a DS 650. I had him through the gears, but on top, he just slowly pulled away stock, both except his baffle was falling out, i dont know if that helped, it prolly did, but he was pulling me in pretty slow and the won... it was a pretty long drag.

You cant take the baffel out on a stock ds. It is built to the endcap. If you are both stock it would be a fair race.
