Does anyone know where to buy a dynojet size 148? IS this about the size I should use with a HMF slip on, K&N filter no air box mods, at sea level to 1500ft, and between 50-90 degrees. Also, this is on a 400ex. Also, when I put my HMF on, should I raise the needle? Or is this not necessary? I'm running a 146 with the stock pipe, and it seems to be good. It is a little rich, but it is rich at around 1500ft above sea level, about 90 degrees, with no airbox mods.

I think I have a dynojet 148 in a kit. Too bad the kit is worthless to me now since it only goes up to a 170 and I needed a 185 or 192 after getting my motor built. If I have it you can have it. You can also buy individual jets from the dealership for like 4 bucks apiece... it doesnt necessarily need to be a "dynojet"...

I was going to get the kehien jets, but I though I might as well keep the dyno in there. My kit skips the 148, it goes from 146 to 155. 146 is almost perfect with the stock pipe at sea level, but with the HMF, I didn't want it to run lean.

I'm not real familiar with the DynoJets but going from 146 to 155 seems like quite a jump:confused:

From what i've read if you're using the Dynojet needle you need to use the Dynojet main due the the taper of the needle. They are different than Kehien jets.

Can someone confirm and/or clarify this?

The kit skips this due to it saying you don't need it. It goes from stage 1 richest is 146, and stage 2 leanest is 155.

All the above is correct....:D

Run a 146, if she backfires on decel put the 155 in.

I know it's after the fact, but my opinion is that everyone should steer clear of any 'jet kits'. The numbers are not the same as the stock Keihin jets, so the crossover is more difficult.

My properly jetted 400 with Keihin jets works much better now, for a fraction of the price and aggravation.

Just my opinion though and there have been many posts on here about this subject....although cals400ex can help you out with pretty 'nere any jetting snag, lol!:)

im runnin the hmf slip on and k&n no airbox mods and i got the 146 in. also the dynojets go by a different numbering system then the keihin so they are not interchangeable.;)

for dynojet questions, i would pm ewalker302. he runs dynojets and has tested them out. he even complained to dynojet about that jump from the 146-155 and dynojet said you didn't need any jets inbetween. he called enough to get dynojet to actually send him a 148 or 150, i can't remember exactly. i can promise you he will tell you that the 170 is way way too big. i believe he mentioned the stock 148 keihin is the same size as the 142 dynojet, if i remember correctly. i think he runs around a 148-150 DJ on a piped and filtered bike. we do need to remember we won't all need the same size jet as temp, humidity, elevation, etc all play a significant role in jetting. with the testing i have done with the keihin jets, i can tell you the larger you go, the slower you will be. now i realize that a 105 mainjet will be way the heck too small but in general if you jump from a 148 to a 170 with just a pipe, i think your nuts. your power gains won't be near what it should be. i wouldn't even run a 170 on a piped, filtered, camed, pistoned 400ex at sea level elevation in the cold winter months. with my 406, i only ran up to a 162 keihin mainjet with a pipe, no air box lid, cam, 10.8:1 compression, etc. this was in 20 degree weather at 625 ft above sea level. good luck
