why would it suck? the R held its own for 16 years after production ended....will the yfz be able to claim that?

it would suk because you wouldnt be able to find n e other yfzs to race. they would be really hard to find because no 1 will want to sell them. c wat im sayin

yfz's sell like hotcakes, they won't stop sellin til sales decrease, or we'll just get better deals on them. why did honda stop making the r? decreased sales? or was it something to do w/ lawsuits? that rings a bell.

it was the lawsuits i know on my stock r plastic when i had it had a warning label that said no one under 14. honda also got out of atv racing cause it was slowing down. i mean it was always there but not as strong. it wasnt until the last few years that racing has picked up again. the 400ex sparked the new 4 strokes just like the suzuki started the 4 wheeling instead of 3 wheels and the r started a real good racer(original r not the 450)

the US had a contract with the Japanese that atvs could not be raced by factory teams for 10 years, the 400ex was a start but not enough to bring back factory support until recently with honda, yamaha, and suzuki having each a competetive race machine.

contract with the japan not to race factory teams :D :D :blah: that is the first I time I have ever heard that!!
This topic is lame!! Yamaha will run it till the well has gone dry I wouldn't doubt if there was a 2015 YFZ450 ....also I don't think yamaha gives a "F" about lawsuits!! why do I think this.....well look at the YAMAHA BANSHEE, if there gonna get sued for anything its that "F"er!!

Like I said this topic sucks!!

hold up every one, yes lawsuits did have somting to do with the end of the "R" days and "Quad Racer" days, but a nother thing that can not go unmentioned is the EPA and there "comming down" on emmistions. correct me if i am wrong (nicley pleas) the 80's were the time when a lota car makers were adding all the BS to make them cleener, and honda being sooo....aaaaa what ever they are for "keeping it green" wanted to conform. who knows how yamaha feels on "keeping it green", maby it is just that they care about the customer more?? i think most would agree that yamaha has the bigger Ka-hunas then the other ATV makers when it comes to trying new things, with C-dale's motor sports division being the excepton, but not the rule :p

lets here some more comments pleas......

i like this convo...

hey even if they make the yfz for only 4 years it still wont hold its slow look at this i raced at bartow the other day and there was at least 10 yfz and 1 400ex and about 5 yfz had pipes suspension a-arms axle engine work and so on and there was a 250r with suspension and it smoked them all the first race

I dont think that yamaha will stop selling the YFZ's, Look how long they have been running that stupid Warrior motor!!!!!! Even now in that raptor 350!! And Honda stoped makin the R becasue of public contervirsy! (SP) People arguing that the high performance machins where killing ppl! ATV Connection has a good story about the 250r's and HONDA!
