Well, the stock settings are fine. . . if you just pull all the preload out and it will feel and handle much like a 400EX. Remember to change the oil(s) after tearing it up! Next time try our SEARCH function, inwhich will direct most if not all of your FAQ's easily.

ok..run the GN4 black bottle stuff from your dealership for about 6 tanks of gas at least & 3 oil changes..then I would switch to mobile 1 synthetic..also to adjust your preload you turn the silver thing arounf the top of your shocks to the top threads. or move them down for less preload

well do i have to get that stuff from the dealer because it is sort of far from where i got it.

well i after rode today. well i noticed some scratches on it. but one was from when i got off of it and i hit the back fender with my boot. but that was the only magor scratch. i will try and get pics up though. but this is how i wash it. first i wetted it down with water and sprade mean green all over it. but usually i use this other stuff (its some kind of stuff in a purple boddle it works pretty goo) but i ran out of it yesterday when all of my friends washed there 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. and there was some mud on it not bad but i took all the heavy stuff off with the hose. and then i sprade it with the stuff a again and then i wiped everything off with a rag. and if you use a pressure washer to wash your 4 wheeler try to stay as far back as you can. because after awhile you loose the color of plastic. because my brother lost the color of red on his 400ex red. so i am never gonna wash it with the pressure washer. but it cleaned up pretty good after i was all done with it(black 450r).

i surt of wish i wouldn't of got the 05 but i wanted black. and the 200$ off. didn't work on the 05s only on the 04s. but they still took a 200$ off because i got the warranty with it. and the warranty cost me 600$ for 4 years. and i think i am like paying 7000$ in all. and guess what i am only 15 and i am paying for all of it. i made a 3250$ down payment on it. i put it up for 4 years to pay it off. but i only wanted 2 years. nut they wouldn't do that for me. i am paying 91$ a month on it. but in the summer right now i can pay 600$ a month. and when i am in school i will be only paying 300$ a month.

i know i won't be buying anything for it for awhile. but i hope i get a lot of stuff for it for christmas. then my birthday is in feb. but i think i will be a lot better on it then i will get use to it.

thanks. but you guys might have to wait awhile until i get the pics. because i don't got the pics developed yet. and i hope i am out at my sisters because she is the only one i know that has a scanner.

Engine oil filler is on the side with the oil level inspection window, the trans oil is the other side.

why are you using a 80-90 weight oil in the trans when it is recommended 10-40 also? just asking. factory puts 10 weight oil in clutch side for breakin. I just got this bike and havent done oil yet.

i run transmission oil in the transmission...why would you run engine oil in the transmission? think about it...this 80weight is the best IMO

USE GOLDEN SPECTRO 4 its the best on the market i have changed the oil twice in my quad and alot of times in all my other quads and we have always used golden spectro 4!! it is simply the best!!

cuz the transmission also contains the clutches made of fiber and steel. they do not like 80-90 wt oil. 80-90 wt is strictly a gear oil. never heard of anyone running that in the clutches. the most I have heard is 50 wt along with the 10 wt as 10-50 multiweight oil. anyway, not arguing, just wanted to know your reasoning. thanks

i admit..i dont know alot about engine internals & i listen alot at what the gurus on here have to say & the REALLY smart guys so far have mostly all been running my setup. I'd like to see what one of them have to say on this here
