Ok well I have this friend and she was telling me that she worked 14 hours and only got payed for 11 and half hours. She also says that it wasnt the first time that it happened. Shes kinda shy so im trying to help her out. That is a criminal act correct? If so what can she do?

Thank you

well if its on her pay stub she needs to make a copy of it and take it in. If not she needs to start saving her stubs and add up all of the hours and divide by the pay. i mean its not that hard to keep track of ur hours.

dont matter, at my job at a supermarket everyone belongs to a union, cashier, stock, deli, anyone.

ask her if she belongs to one.

I agree 100%.I believe that as a 16 year old it is illegal for her to work that many consecutive hours anyway.Tell her to get her records together and call the local labor board.

yea need to make photocopies off all her paycheck stubs and time cards and do go the labor board, she can get paid for all the missed pay and then some as long as you can prove you worked. i think round here its for every 8 hours worked you have to have 2- 15 min breaks and a half hour lunch. if they dont let you thats a violation of the law, they have to. the labor board can walk in to your work place and look at the time cards at random and make sure your getting the proper breaks and stuff, if not the employer can get in big trouble.j.m.o.

all you need is proof. it is totally illegal for anyone under 18 to work more than 8 hrs. and they must have a half hr lunch break if they work over 4 hrs and 45 minutes. im not sure if thats just state law or national but at hershey they pounded that into us cause its a big fine if they got cought

Yea...no more than 8 hours for 16 and 17 year olds...

If I were her, I'd make sure I had proof and try to get them to pay up...or walk out and come back with a lawsuit...I mean come on, you can sue for anything these days!

Sorry about that I think you guys misunderstood. She worked only 14 hours for her paycheck, not in one day.
