There should be a SPID sticker in the truck somewhere (I'd run outside and tell you where mine's at but it's raining). Anyway, there's the whole list of RPO's for your truck and one of the options listed should be "Z71".

depends on what year it is(sort of). i have a 96 Z-71.and it is a 4 wheel drive V-8. but the newer models are nothing like that. chevy just started throwin Z-71 stickers all over the whole truck line.the newer ones are V-6 2 wheel drives.i went to go get a new one and was dissapointed at chevy for mass producing those damn stickers.

actually in the glove box there is a sticker right on the door partand that will tell you everything you need to know like what options it has etc.it will be in code form like sg1 and such
btw z71 is the light duty version
if it says 4x4 its the heavy duty only in half ton though

The RPO (Regular Production Option) code for the Z71 option is "Z71" on the SPID sticker.

my truck is a 96 tahoe, and i thought z 71 ones had that higher suspension, and when side by side with my moms tahoe (98) it sits higher

only thing different between the z71 and the 4x4 package is the underbody...nothing else is different... my mom owns a 2000 tahoe z71 and i own a 1998 z71 and there is no difference between the 2 what so ever...

the 4x4's and the z71s use the same 5.7lt v8 vortech so your pretty much getting the same vehicle...chevy just charges a tad more for a z71

no, the tow package was a seperate option, just like it is today.

The Z71 of the older body style and the Z71 of the new style are the same except for the shocks. The old body style got bilstein (sp?) shocks and the new ones go some cheapo shock (still bigger than regular 4x4).
