You'll want something you can grow into a little bit. Don't forget that, because you'll regret it if you don't get something like that. I'd get a crf250 if you can afford it. Great power and something anyone can grow into.

If your looking at something a little cheaper, get an XR250, you'll love it.

i would go with the crf250 its fast, but not too fast. my dad has the crf450r,it is insane. you know they are good bikes when both of them were named bike of the year............plus their honda.

There are a few factors to take into consideration here. What do you ride? Woods or MX? If it is woods the XR250 will be all you need. If you ride MX the suspension on the XR will not hold up get a 250f. I have ridden a YFZ250 and they are sweet, ergo's where good and hight was good. IT all boils down to what you are gonna do with it. No matter which you decide, honda or yammie, they are gonna be pretty close in power, ergo's might be diff though. Go to a dealer and sit on each.

Weight is another factor, how much do you weigh, and are you still growing much? if so the 230 might not be a good investment because instead fo growing into it, you might just grow out fo it.

im 5'10", 165 pounds id rarely do woods riding, mainly open trail, real bumpy trails that arent groomed, so i need something strong thatll hold still goin through bumps and not buck me off or anything

How are 125's in the woods? im about 6'1" 210 so i can defenitly handle it but im looking to start riding a bike and i dont know if i want a 125. im only wanting to spend around 2300. i was looking at like a 2001 yz125.

I have a 2000 yz426f and that bike is awesome. I am 6' 1 and 230 and that bike has a lot of motor that just keeps tickin. I am very guilty of beatin the Sh$t out of bikes and that one has never given me any trouble.

At 6 1, 210 lbs. you better get a 250 2 stroke or 450 4 stroke the 125 is gonna be a tad bittle to small.

Jingle you should get a yfz 250 of a yzf400. Stay away from the 2 smokers. a 125 will be too small and if you have never ridden a s smoker you will not like a 250 2 smoke. I wouldn't get an XR because the suspension is old technology, no offense to it, but it is old and fat compared to a new 250 4 strokes.

Do a search for dirtbike topics we have trust me you said your friend or a friend of a friend had or has one, if they all overheated do you really think they would still be selling, people also say the same thing about the 450 honda but its all in how you take care of your bike.I could say that all KTM's are junk just because the one I had broke down alot but that wouldn't be all true I know plenty of people that have them and love it,same goes with the RMZ and KFX.
