View Full Version : Race fuel?

Hello guys and gals! From what I understand, race fuel has a higher octane rating than "pump" gas. I am interested in buying some (there are many car racing tracks around here). What exactly do I ask for? I know many of the cars run nitromethane. I plan on calling the tracks and finding a source, but I am unsure of exactly what to ask for. Please help, and sorry so long. Thanks for all the advice.

You can ask for VP c12 or Red, however, you probably don't need race fuel. You only need higher octane when you have higher compression. The best octane to run is the lowest you can run without pinging. Running anything higher will just eat a hole in your wallet. At 10.8, you should be okay w/ premium pump gas.

A Gas Station in my Town has some 104 Gas. That would make your 400EX run a little Cooler.

I believe that 110 or whatever your getting is cleaner than pump gas also

Its OK to run too high octane just not way too much. A little is ok because it will keep your motor running cooler!! i wouldnt mind sacrificing a tiny bit of unoticed power loss to make my motor last longer!!! With my TC 505 and 12.5:1 compression c12 would be a good gas to run however Tom says run c14 to keep it running cooler!

If you want Race Gas just get a Good 104 Gas from your Gas Station. That`s what my Brother is running in his 250r.
