Thanks, KT-M

that is the first time i have seen you not give a full page physics explanation.

I could go into a bunch of detail about additives and oxygenated fuels, about vaporization points, all that junk, but in the end I just decided to answer his question in the most simple terms possible, and leave everybody else to tell him that he is just wasting money putting race gas in a stock motor.

89 octane gas is the best:devil:

AAAAHHH THE WORLD IS GOING TO END!!! *runs away screaming pulling out hair*

I'm with Wilkin, the race gas won't burn up your engine and it will just be a waste of extra money. You will only need it if you are running a higher compression piston and you hear pinging, which means there is pre-detonation. Right?:D

:eek2: i dont think he knows what half that stuff is:o

Don't waste your money unless you have a high compression piston. Without going into it too much, you may actually hurt your performance (not your motor though) by running race gas in a stock motor. Race gas requires more compression to ignite fully which your motor does not make enough of...

i really dont think running too high of an octane in anything is going to hurt it at all. Its just gonna be a waste of money since u cant buren it efficently.

race gas has a slower rate of burn than pump gas, thats why it doesnt ping. a lower octane fuel can actually make more power because it has a faster burn but is more succeptible to detonation with a higher comp ratio or high cylinder pressures. Check out hot rod or craft theyll tell ya.

That's not necessarily true. Not all higher octane fuels burn slower, it depends on your mix. Now, I will agree that MOST additives that increase octane will decrease burn rate, but it's not an absolute.
