I just wanted to let everyone know about a great deal on a arms JD Performance has. I just got my set and I am very impressed. I’ve been looking at many A-arm designs at the track and the web. The JD a-arms are 475$ and depending on how nice you are to Debbie there she might ship you the stuff free. They have wonderful customer service and a great product. You can rebuild you’re a arms with a set of 16 bushings and 4 ball joints for 80$ After talking with her for some time on the phone, I got the feeling they are constantly trying to deliver a very good product at a fair price. Back to the a-arms they are built the same as the Leager A arms the same design. And seem to be just as strong as a ***** Brick house. I will recommend these to anyone that wants a good product at a fair price. I think this company is on par with Houser, Leager, and others. Ill post some pictures once I install them this weekend.
:D

My Cousin had JD A-Arms on his 250r and they were Nice. They should be the same as Laeger, the Guy that makes them Worked for Laeger.

I got a Question for all you Guys. If somebody made a set of A-Arms like Laeger, Houser, JD, Etc and only wanted say $400 to $425 Bucks, would you Buy them? We need somebody to do that.

How do you like your setup? I really liked them when i had them. At the race friday i actually thought a pair of leagers were jd preformance. they were exactly the same thing but jd has there mark cut into the shock mount

I like the jd but i think everyone just gets the laeger for the name thats on it just like clothes.

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 10:22 AM
Yeah people do Buy Laeger for the Name, but that is because Laeger has made a Good Name for Himself. I would Buy Laeger. I want Laeger. I just hope we can make our Own A-Arms.

I agree I see a lot of people just buying into advertisement stuff all the time, buy this because this guys uses it and that guy says it’s the best. When really we should try to find something that fits our needs and wants. Not only did I buy Works shocks but and JD a arms but there both used. Where I live we don’t have the biggest MX tracks and stuff and I don’t plan on being the next MX star I just ride for fun so I wasn’t going to buy a full LOBO system just something that would work for me. LOL LOBO is nice just would be over kill for me I thought. Some times I think we have to be real with our selves about our ability and such. Man I sounded like someone’s dad their WOW that sucked. Buy what you want because it will make you happy I guess.

I agree. Everybody just wants the Best. JD is just as Good as the other A-Arms Made.

I ordered herrmann aarms for my R. Herrmannracing.com I bought them because they look stronger than laeger and were cheaper too. I proably would of gotten laeger if someone had them in stock. All the places told me 2-6 weeks, i did not want to end up waiting that long. I will have my aarms end of next week.

I like the herman but houser is just as good and short wait.

mrusk
04-02-2002, 10:52 AM
the herrmanns has a shorter wait than the housers and i will bet money on the herrmanns being stronger than the housers!

I love my laeger a arms...haven't got to try them out yet...but they look sweet. really strong and well built...and the black and chrome makes me drool. they will handle great with the ZPS. can't wait.

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 10:55 AM
I like Houser and Herrmann, but I would go with Laeger, Walsh, or Our A-Arms on Mine.

mrusk
04-02-2002, 10:59 AM
WM- I would of gotten the Laeger but did not want to wait. How cares, i just need to get 2 years out of these aarms, then i will sell them and get a walsh 19in front end on a arens frame.

matt

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 11:02 AM
That will be Sweet. You should just go ahead and Order a Walsh Frame.

mrusk
04-02-2002, 11:09 AM
No walsh frame for me! To much $$$. 2800 for the frame than 600 for the subframe!

I save 1600 getting a arens frame!

This is what i plan on getting-

Arens framee 1800
Walsh aarms 1000
Walsh swingarm 625
Walsh sterringstem 300
So thats like 4k plus long travel shocks.

But i figure i can get 2.5k selling my frame, elkas, aarms, swingarm, stem and all my stock parts. So its all good.

matt

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 11:31 AM
That`s a Good Setup. Are you sure the SubFrame is another $600? Most of the Aftermarket Frame come with SubFrames. I don`t know why the SubFrame would be Seperate. Oh Well. What kind of Shocks would you get? The Axis or Elka? If you Sold your Chassis Setup you have Now, you could get a Laeger Frame.

mrusk
04-02-2002, 11:38 AM
Walsh charges extra for his subframe. But the 600 is a fliptop one.

If laeger can make frame in a timely manor in 2 years i might get one. But for now i am not going to worry about what frame i will get and that stuff till the time comes. I got to concintrate on this season first!

matt

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 11:44 AM
I can`t Believe the SubFrame is Extra. He already Charges more for the Frame then Everybody else, but yet Guys still Buy them. Laeger used to make a Flip Top SubFrame. A Guy had one at Orrville. It was Nice.

Yeah you could Order the Laeger now and have it in a Few Years.

I think im going to get the regular walsh and regular elkas for mine it ends up being the same and if it is as good as you say it is i dont need long travel housers.

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 05:45 PM
Go for Walsh. You won`t get any Better. I don`t think you will be Jumping high enough to need Long Travel. If you are doing nothing but Racing MX, I would get PEP Shocks. Yeah I know there is a Long Wait, talk your Mom into Ordering them now so when you have the Money they will be Ready. You don`t Pay for the Shocks until they are Done.

mrusk
04-02-2002, 05:45 PM
Get the Long Travel walsh for the 19in shocks.

Foxrage
04-02-2002, 07:30 PM
I dont need the long travel walsh plus thats extra money for the long travel shocks. I think elka will do just fine when i get my real job i will buy the walsh CRF450:D

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 07:33 PM
I don`t think you need Walsh Long Travel either. You could just get Laeger A-Arms, Swingarm, and Steering Stem. I am going to Buy Farr`s old YZ440F when I get my Job.

I just got a set of Herrman a-arms. Their customer service was excellent. The a-arms appear to be very strong. The hardest part was which color powdercoat (there are a couple hundred to choose from).:square

Dave400ex
04-03-2002, 08:39 AM
NACS, Maybe you should just get Houser or Laeger A-Arms. It would Save you a lot of Money. I don`t think you will ever need any better then those. If you do, then you will have a Sponsor.

Could you Post some Pictures of the Herrmann Arms? What Color did you get?

mrusk
04-03-2002, 09:18 AM
The regular travel walsh's (the ones for the 16in shock) spechial ends (spelt way wrong) instead of ball joints. Thats the only advantage of getting the Walsh over the laeger or housers or any other aarm.

Nacs i really doubt you need walsh aarms, you would just be wasting money you could be spending on other parts that you need.

matt

Dave400ex
04-03-2002, 09:38 AM
I agree. Just get Laeger A-Arms, Steering Stem, Swingarm, and you might as well get a SubFrame. With the Money you Save you can get a SubFrame. You put some PEP ZPS Front Shocks and a Rear Rebuild on there and you have a Sweet Quad.

mrusk
04-03-2002, 09:52 AM
Yea what WM said, But i would just buy Elkas. Elkas will be all you ever need.

Dave400ex
04-03-2002, 07:30 PM
Mrusk, Sorry but it is really Hard to Choose Colors, Shocks, and Pipes. They are all Expensive and you want to make sure you get a Good Setup. I have Researched Shocks for 6 Months or more and PEP and Elka are the Best. You have to ask Questions and change your Mind.

"NACS400EX
and when you dont like your shocks or a-arms or what ever you get than im going to laugh cause it takes a while to decide."

Man i would not want you to laugh at me! That would really hurt my feelings. I hate to break it to you but all 16in aarms are basically the same. Handle the same and perform the same. I decided on herrmans because the looked stronger than most of the other aarms and because i could get them in a resnoable matter. I dont care that tim far and doug gust dont also run herrmann. I dont buy parts just because of the name. And shocks aint that hard to decided on when you think about it. Everyone knows that Axis and pep are the best. If you dont need to best you get elkas. Their affordable and you can get them in a timely maner.

" Im not rich so i have to dream i just cant go out and buy the stuff i want"

I am not rich either. Acctually i am very far from rich. It seems that you think everyone with a moded quad is rich. That aint the case. I work my *** off. I been working with a guy building houses since i was 14. I work all summer and on weekend and vacations throughout the school year to get what i want. So dont say u have to wait till the summer to get a job.

my advice is to figure out when you will get the money, and wait till then to try to decide, but still gather info in the meantime, just dont get obsesd and one thing i figured out is too not tell everyone what you decide to do, because, when i used to tell my friends, then change my mind, they would never believe a thing i said, its not bad to dream though,,,mrusk is right about almost all arms being the same,,, keep it real, later

Dave400ex
04-04-2002, 08:32 PM
Yes most A-Arms are the Same. As for Shocks, I think Elka is just as good as PEP and Axis. Elka uses better Parts on their Shocks, they just need to get the Valving Down. They are a New Company. Give them Time. They should be Number One.

Everybody at School thinks I am Rich because we have Three Quads. Well let me tell you, if I was Rich, I would have at least 10 Quads, a Semi with a Nascar type Trailer, and a Huge Dealership. That is Rich. Well, anyways, get Money and Mod that 400ex.

mrusk
04-04-2002, 08:37 PM
I have no doubt in my mind that in a year or two Elka will be a big player in the suspention world. I bought the elkas becuase they are all i need NOW, and i could get them NOW. Just because they use better parts then PEP and Axis it does not make the better. Pep and axis both have their valving down perfectly.

matt

Dave400ex
04-04-2002, 09:05 PM
I know the Parts don`t matter as Much as Valving. I said Elka has better Parts then PEP and Axis, but they need to get their Valving figured out. I bet if Mark Baldwin Setup up a Pair of Elka`s they would be just as Good, if not better then the PEP`s. Elka will get it figured out.

mrusk
04-04-2002, 09:22 PM
I have no doubt in my mind that they will get the valving down. The thing i like about Elka is how the keep on improving the shock and doing research and testing.
