Is there really a noticable differance between a stage one cam and a stage two cam for the recreational rider ie: dunes, hills, desert stuff? Thanks.

If your talking about the Hot Cams, you will want a stage 2 for the dunes. The stage one is a low end cam, to where the stage 2 is a higher revving, top end cam. If you get the stage 2, you will also want an aftermarket rev limiter;)

Thanks for the reply. I would have thaught that the stage 1 might work since most of the time I find myself riding the dunes and bowls in third gear.

I just bought a stage 2 hotcam and got it installed along with a 406 piston. I thought the gains were amazing. I love the way the cam pulls on top end. You just have to decide for yourself what you like better top end or bottom end power. Hope this helps.
Rode a friends EX with the stage I cam. I did not feel it was worth the money or time. Compared it to my stock EX and I could hardly see any difference. The stage I cam did make more power mid then stock but not enought to justify the $$ and time to do it. Granted I feel the jetting was still off some on the EX with the cam so that might play a big role.

I second that. A high compression piston isn't a bad idea either.:macho

Thanks for all of the inputs. I went to HotCams.com and they say the stage 2 is for mx and desert "racing". I am going with a 426 piston and a stage 1. Will let you know how it does.

You will be happier with the stage 2 cam. I run this in all my motors whether it is for a gncc quad or for mx it makes the best alround power.
