250x head problems

i have a 1987 250x and when i put the top plate back on the head, there is a loud clicking sound whenever i kick it. Any ideas?

sounds like ur valves are tappin. take of the vlave covers and check the clearence

Check your cam gear bolts, if they are loose they will "click" loudly on the rocker cover. Could be a loose timing chain, or very loose valve lash settings.
