How much more of a power gain will i get from boring my 300ex to a True 300. Which would be 282cc to about 300cc. I will also have the 400ex carb on and a 10.5 high compression piston.

I've always thought of making the 300 a true 300. I would like to see Honda do it. Does anyone make a kit to make a true 300, or anything close to that?

I'm planning on doing that to a 2000 300ex I recently bought since I needed to redo the top end anyway. I talked with Wiseco today to find out what oversize I would need to get to go from 282cc to 300. FYI: It requires a .080 oversize piston (which is 2mm larger than stock) and the tech told me that would make it about 297.5cc or so.

I don't believe anyone makes a kit for this, at least I have not been able to find one and I've searched! The only kit seems to be the 330 which requires re-sleeving. I'm gonna try to get ahold of Mickey Dunlap tomarrow to pick his brain about this and some ?'s about cams, rockers, etc. since I need to replace those too. Everyone I show the cam to says they've never seen one worn quite that bad, oh well.

I'm curious as to what anyone elses thoughts are re: the 300ex, oversize pistons & cam choices for it! I race harescrambles and the usual riding, 35yrs. old and my wife is questioning why I have 2 quads. (one to race & one for play, right?;)

Last thing...if you hav'nt read the post "have you decked the head" (or close to that) READ IT, print it out and save it!! Great info. that goes beyond the thread title. My 2cents
