Anyone know what stock frame is the strongest? Seems lik the 450r is unproven and I've been out of the racing scene for a few months. Last I heard the Z400 frame cracks to pieces, No clue about 450f's. And 400ex's have always been decent.
I'm wanting to build a mx play bike and would rather not get an aftermarket frame.

I cased it on a 60 footer, not too bad, but if I was on a Z, the frame would definetly be toast. My ex frame was still all straight, but the airbox broke...

No more C-dale:huh So gotta go with ATK:devil:
Other than the ATK / C-dale frame every stock frame needs some beefing up for racing.

The 400ex frame is decent but STILL needs to be gusseted for MX. After a year of racing the frame cracked all the way through above the top shock mounts. Also, the top motor mounts that bolt through the valve cover broke completely off. I took the frame down and had it gusseted up hardcore and havent had any problems with it whatsoever. Not really sure what the BEST frame is, but I can tell you what the WORST is.....Z400 all the way. I have 3 friends with Z/KFX's (well, most sold them now), and they cracked 8 frames between 3 of them no ****....

The 400ex's will take a beating but still can be bent or cracked. I bent my frame on my 02 ex and never really wrecked hard or hit anything major. I hit my share of trees racing xc. I guess the little stuff added up.

the c-dale/ATK is by far the strongest frame, prolly the fastest motor of the 450's also

Not really into going with a Cannondale. I love them, but no, can't take that kind of chance. I do agree they have the strongest frame though. probably stronger than a couple aftermarket frames I know of...

any stock frame you use for mx needs gusseting and it should be ok. Even the Z/kfx 400 frames do alright after gusseting.

that there is your answer:D

even tho gusseted, they will eventually crack, but then again so will an aftermarket frame.

a friend of mine cracked his stock 450R frame and broke the subframe off. another friend has an 02' Cdale that has been raced off and on since 02' in the A class and that frame is still holding up. when you put a fast rider on a steel production frame it's going to break eventually.

I know paps, It's the last thing I want to do. If I didn't need money so bad I wouldn't even think of selling it.
