MadMatt's '96 300 had begun to have a sticky thottle. I lubed the cable and the thumbthrottle and still, it was a bit sticky. It would begin fine, but would get very tough about 1/4 throttle and smooth after that. If you cut the quad off, it was fine.
This meant that vaccuum may have had something to do with it.

Here's what we found: The teflon (I guess) has worn away from the slider, and I could see a fair amount of scoring on the slider where it had been riding in the throttle bore. The vaccuum, which pulls the slider against the throttle bore, has caused this and the repair is free! All I had to do was turn the slider around by rotating the "throttle bracket" on the slider by 180 degrees and slipping it back it. It's nice that the slider is the same on both sides, unlike some other carbs, so this was possible. We went riding after the repair and ALL is good!

FYI, this is on a 300EX with the original throttle cable!
