I know I should probably buy hydraulic rear brakes but does anyone know a way to get the rear brakes on an 02 yamaha blaster to work good? I just replaced the pads and took some tension out of the cable but the brakes still wont slow me down.

Yea right- gettin those things to work good is pretty much impossible. Alls I can say is grease every thing in the caliper up, and adjust the cable good. When i used to have a blaster, theyd never work for more than 5 mins. get on ebay and buy some hydros ;)

I would also just get hydros, you can get a conversion from a banshee or pretty much any street bike. I would talk to kurt over at PB. www.projectblaster.com, I am sure he could help you with whatever you wanted. :macho

i will sell you a BRAND NEW swingarm from an 03 blaster that has all the needed parts to bolt up a banshee/warrior/raptor caliper. you will need to fing a way to mount the master cylinder, but i have the 03 swingarm, and bearing carrier with bearings, it is all 2 weeks old or less. make me an offer if you would like it

take the brake cover off (3 allen heads) pull the mechanism out, and pull the cable off. soak the mechanism in a cleaning solution, or wd40 and rub it vigorously for a while. then be sure to spray some wd in there, and clean out the inside of the cover, and by the pads. buy a shorty brake cable (one that eliminates the parking brake) and put that on. put it all together, properly ajust your cable and your pad squish ajustment. my brakes work awesome for what they are.
