I hate long pipes, like my CT was long enough that the pipe would hit the ground before the grab bar. Makes it tough when working on the quad. Not no more! I cut 5 3/4" off and remounted the disk system.

Post pics of your versions of shorty pipes.

shorter pipe = more bottom.

I've been questioning weather I should shorten my Pro Circuit T-4. I could use the bottom, but it's already loud.... any louder would be rediculous. Anybody have an EX with a shortend T-4?

You gain lowend, and might loose a TINY bit of top end. You also will be louder.

There is a post in the HMF section that says you cant shorten the pipe on the 400ex or 450r.

I think HMF said they can short the exhaust on the 400ex, but not the 450R.

Can you cut a carbon fiber slip on?

im gonna have to say u cant cut cf cuz its strands that r overlapped and if u cut the edge it will fray like rope...idk about pipes but i kno the cf bikes cannondale makes r expensive to fix if a rock hits the frame because it can cut it then the rest will fall apart

Anybody ever cut a stocker? I don't have the money to buy a new pipe so I was thinking about cutting the stock one. It doesn't look like it would be to hard. Just cut a section out and weld it back together.

I shortned my Sparks X-6 and it helped it on the bottom end but there is one negative about it I go through silencer packing like underwear. It never lasts for more than a month and a half. Is this happening to anyone else with a shortned X-6.

It lasts a month and a half???? I must need to shorten mine then because I have to repack my regular length X-6 every 3 weeks...

does the packing quiet it down?

How does a fella know when to repack?

Can you get away with not repacking for a year or maybe ever...?:o Any major disadvantages?

You have to drill all of the rivits out...and take out the core, and wrap it in new packing pretty much. If you don't re-pack, its just gonna be a lot louder, and loose a little power, nothing to much though;)
