400ex Cam Chain Question??

When replacing the cam chain do you have to split the cases?
If not then how do you replace it?
How difficult is it to replace this chain?
Any help would rock.

no splitting the case. you take off the right side cover. the clutch and clutch basket needs to be removed. then i believe i took off the oil pump and that was enough to get the new chain in and the old one out. it is a fairly simple project but takes some time. remember to drain the oil first, you will need a new gasket more than likely, and there are some dowels in the case cover you won't want to loose.
