I just got a LSR axcalibar axle and the stock lock nut will not reach the c clip that stops the lock nut from sliding off. Am I doing something wrong or do these things not work with stock locknuts?

Ok i measured from the end of the splines that are inside the swingarm to the slot in the axle where the c clip goes and it measures 2 inches on the LSR axle and 1 and a half on my stock axle. Is this a 250r axle or something? Why is it different and how do I make it work?

LOSE that stock locknut and replace it it sucks!!! Get a RAD locknut for like 45 bucks and be done with it if you are on a budget. Once you take the stock locknut off you are a fool if you put it back on. It is total trash and not worth the hassle...

Where do you get a rad locknut and is that going to help with the fact that the clip is a half inch further out than the stock one was?

i had the same problem. get an antifade locknut. those work the best. that damn clip never wants to go in so we said f it and got an antifade. it saves all problems

The thing I dont understand is that my friend has a LSR axle and it is exactily the same as the stock axle just longer but myne isn't. Why is myne different? I would really rather not spend 220$ on a locknut eather.

$38 for a RAD locknut from C&D, (Z400).
The locknut is aluminum.

Antifade are the way to go but I don't know how much they run for on a EX.

i'd call lsr and ask... i just put a lsr axle on my 400 and that part of the axle was perfectly fine... now the hubs... i had to beat them on:grr:

it should say 400ex axle right on the center of the axle... it will be stamped into it... make sure its a 400ex... if not mayb the sproket hub isn't pressed on the whole way...

Some one had this same problem not too long ago on here. LSR had either messed up the axle or shipped them the wrong axle but the stock nut should work!!!! call LSR

It doesn't have 400ex stamped on the axle. All it says is the serial number. Basically the stock locknut is about 1/8 inch short of being stopped by the c clip. What I need a deffinate answer on is if I get an LSR anti fade hub will I gain that 1/8 inch that I need and will this weaken it in any way? If I know that this will fix my problem for sure I will do it.

no they sent you the wrong axle. if the axle is out right in the middle of it the part that sits in the carrier should have 400ex engraved on it if not call lsr and get the right one.

Sorry guys I guess I didn't say this but this is a used axle that came off of a 400ex. I bought it a couple weeks ago off of this site and the guy I bought it from sent me a pic of it on his 400 with the stock locknut. I have gone over myne a million times and I can't see how it was done. I need to know if the anti fade nut will give me extra room.

Hey JD
What we can't all race on a buget. Some of us buy things as we can, When we have the extra money after paying bills and such. Just because we can't buy all at the same time does not make us non racers, just makes us have to buy parts as we can. I myself am looking at getting anew axel and will not but an anti fade till I can

heres my advice. save your money untill you can afford both like i did. i had no problems and i was still paying off my front end and im 14. the anti fade saves you all your problems and the axle is amazing. theres my 2 cents

i don't see how a anti fade is goin to help... its gonna be the same length as the stock lock nut... bc they are ment for the same axle...

Ok here is the deal it seems to fit inside the axle just fine but the clip is further out than stock and the stock hubs don't fit. I'm gonna have to assume that it is a 250r axle. Has anyone ever used a 250r axle on a 400 and what exactily has to be modified in order for it to work?

You need to make a spacer between your lock nut and the brake hub . I have seen this done. It is a pain to make the spacer but it will work fine. Durablue locknuts sometimes require a 1/8 spacer. I would agree that if you can afford to replace that stock nut that is a good idea. Buy what you can afford....
