i have a mildly tweaked 300ex. cam, spring, high-compression piston, pipe, k&n. what could race gas or a mixture of race/pump benefit me?

It all depends on the compression of your piston, what is it at? If it's not high enough, race gas or race gas mix will not benefit you at all.

when i run race gas in my 250x it feels alot different. has better throttle response, it improves acceleration and top speed also.

im not real sure about the compression or that stuff, but me and my friend bought a barrel of 116 klotz octane and EVERYONE was like dude your gonna blow your pistons and mess your engine up. So i dunno

i ran 100 octane in mine and it ran fine. i didn't mix it at all, just straight 100 octane. it felt good and smelled good, but there was no real difference that i could notice. i thought about running 113 in it, but then i would have to mix w/ 93 or put bigger jets in.

If you notice any pinging when your bike gets hot or is under a heavy load, you should try going to a mix of 50/50 race and premium. If you've never heard your bike ping or knock, then you don't need race fuel.

It sounds like you are overjetted then. You probably used an oxygenated race gas (that's most of them), which leans out your mixture. You could have gotten the same result with pump gas and a jetting change.....

You are only going to notice a difference with the higher octane if you are running a higher compression piston, otherwise you are just wasting your money.

Running 116 octane isn't going to blow your engine either.

You are correct that oxygenated race fuels lean your mixture out a bit, but it's not most of them. There are only about 2-3. I run VP Ultimate 4 which is oxygenated, and I believe there are a few others.

some ppl tel me to run my mixute 1/4 T.B. & 3/4 Premium cuz it will be cheaper but i get my race gas free sometimes (i work at a shop)..so i say why screw with it the motor pulls strong, no pining or knocking so why dink with for a couple of pennies
