Little Smoking

When I start my 400ex sometimes it will smoke grey or white when I rev it up in high rpm's. Doesn't happen all the time. Is it burning oil or just carboned up. I don't always drive it balls to the wall. Sometimes just put around with my cousin on his 250ex. I have a HMF s/o w/spark arrestor in. Could the spark arrestor be causing some of this too?

If it's blue smoke, that's oil and you may be needing rings soon.....if it's black smoke, you're running rich.....if it's white smoke, that could be condinsation in your pipe that's burning off.....

It sounds like what you're saying is just the condisation burning off when you first start it.....nothing to worry about;)

its normal dont worry about it, my 400 does the same thing

it'll even start smokin a lil when im puttin around on sum trails. I'll let it sit for awhile and nothing. Condensation still??

Yeah well..........that's probably your rings starting to go bad. It's easier for the oil to get past the rings when the motor is hot and the oil is thinner.

could be vavle seals if its right when u start it up and blow a little blue smoke
