I searched on 250ex and couldnt find any how to on changing the oil on an 04.. Is it the same process as the how to for the 400? And i read on here that it does not have a filter just a screen, but the shop is telling me it does, and its only 6 bux... Also should I use the Mobil 1 red cap oil on a 250ex? My shop said they sell a kawaskai 20/50 oil that I should use.. it was 3 dollars a quart...

Please help me out here...

first of all, do NOT buy the oil filter from your dealer. reason being there is no oil filter. you herd right, its just a screen in the motor somewhere. also, it is the same way you changge the 400ex oil. just -the oilfilter parts. pretty much drain the oil by taking the oil bolt out. its under the quad. pretty easy to find. its metric and be sure to use the right size. make sure you put it back in before putting oil in. be sure no to tighten it too much. i never had a problem with mine, but some 400ex guys break the welds on the oil tank if you tighen it too much.
umm for oil, i use casterol 10w-30 in mine... its really up to you. if you use synthetic, be sure to know that its like... umm eating chocolate chip cookies. once you start you cant stop!
hope i helped

I try to stay away from dealerships at all if I can, they charge way too much for parts, I had to pay 70 bucks for a chain slide on the XR200R and then 35 bucks for rear pads for my 01 400ex.

i use mobil-1 synthetic oil in mine. mobil-1 makes the best oil, grease, and lubricants you buy. Synthetic oil basically stops engine wear, so it is worth the extra money.
