A friend of mine has a YFZ 450 and didnt do anything other than taking out the baffle and i think maybe a air filter. But he said he raced a decked CRF 450 quad and said he was neck and neck. He told me it was appo. 85MPH. Im just wonderin if hes full of it or what...

Im thinkin about gettin a YFZ or not. My other option is 400EX, Z/KFX400

That seems alittle high of a speed for the yfz Iam thinking with them mods he should be around 78-80.

Taking the baffle out and changing the air filter will not change the top speed of a quad.. the motor will still be doing the same revolutions as before which means the tires will do the same.. he would have had to change his tires, gears, or his rev limiter to hit 78 mph.. stock yfz's can only hit 75 and one with those mods will not change the top speed.

I know a yfz would lose in a drag race. But at my local race I beat a full crf quad into the first turn. Mine has , alba pipe and filter and 18 inch tires. So on the track the yfz can definately keep up

85? I don't think a yfz with those mods would go over 80

My yfz with a T-4 hit a T.S of 71 with stock tires, and only 66 with 18's. Unless a gearing change or bigger tires were installed, I don't think it could reach 80.

its possible he kept with it til the higher gears of course and his yfz will not do 88 mid 70 probaly
