southwick is really fast...its a mix of sand and loom so it ruts up quick...there arent any doubles but there are jumps...pretty much hte whole track whoops out and its got a nasty uphill holeshot

Thanks:)

Is it all big table-tops or what?

Parrella450

pretty much....most people dont even hit the jumps...they jus speed jump them cuz the lips get all chopped up...but its a sweet track..wat class u running?

It is mainly just big table tops, you dont really need to worry about the jumps. What you need to prepare for is the whoops that will develop that are big enough to swallow your quad. It is a true test of endurance.

Yeah don't worry about the jumps, they are nothing. The whoops are what you need to worry about. You'll get there, and practice and say this track is cake. Wait until you get a few expert and pro am classes out there

Guys Southwick is alot like Echeconee( So ive been told ...) Only Worse!!!!! That much I know after being told by many of the racers that run the Nats. and have been to Southwick. Like youve been told except for one jump the jumps turn more into obstacles to be conquered as the day goes on.. Southwick track fols WILL NOT groom like they do at the other nationals...occasionally they will fix a safety isue if someone goes down in a spot moe often then others but overall.....be prepared.

The hotels in the general area do leave something to be desired though...(stay in West Springfield if you can, or the area by the airport in Connecticut is good) Both are only about 15 minutes or so from the track.

TO ALL MY NEATV-MX Members....a warning to you......DONT SANDBAG !!!! IF YOO RUN B CLASSES WITH US AND GO DOWN TO C CLASSES YOUR PROBABLY GONNA GET NAILED THIS YEAR!!! i KNOW FROM SPEAKING WITH DOUG MORRIS THAT THERE WERE SOME COMPLAINTS LAST YEAR AND HE KNOWS ABOUT THE NEATV GUYS!!!! SO RIDE IN THE CLASSES YOU BELOMG IN!!

Other than that guys have fun....lets show up in numbers and show these National guys what we can do!!!!!!!!

P.S. Ill be running 30+ on my antique!!!!!

as far as hotels, i would recommend west springfield,MA or enfield, CT both are withing a half hour drive. also u will find tons of restaraunts in these towns...outback, chilis, TGIF, olive garden, 99, longhorn steakhouse, bertucci's, etc.

if anyone has any more questions about good places to eat or stay or directions to these places, let me know, ill be happy to help u out.

07-16-2004, 04:34 PM
yea first moto its smoothe as a babys *** but after the pro's and pro-am go out place is rutted like crazy..all u see is 2 lines...then inside those are 2 lil lines for your sprocket and rotor...so pick your line and hold it wide open...some people even run 20s...i kno John Natalie did last year and he killed every...pretty sure he went 1-1
what u running for a bike next year NacsRacer12..and wat class u gonna run?

NTPRacing#19
07-16-2004, 05:41 PM
um nope john natalie did not go 1-1, actually local boy from new hampshire Joe haavisto took the whole crew to school in moto number 2 he smoked them. it was very awesome to see a NEATV-MX Top rider win at southwick.

300extreme#8
07-16-2004, 08:40 PM
don't ask me,but he might race b not sure, yall might have heard of the other fast one from around here, clay homes(nationals b class).i've seen him alot local and he won his motos at highpoint so,i just wonder who we win between clay and brandon, plus all the pros have been ridin for years ,brandon just started racin barely 2 years ago. and clay ride joe bryds old yfz

300extreme#8
07-16-2004, 08:42 PM
i think they both should race pro b/c they r some fast mofos,i could easily compare them to the pros.they might not win in pro class but i bet they could keep up

EX 80

Even though the ruts and whoops get deep i use 18's. I am a southwick regular. I have never felt the need to use 20's. I have never gotten stuck (knock on wood). I have seen many guys slow down and get stuck or go to high and get stuck on a whoop or berm. Key is don't let off gas, because your sprocket and rotor and buried in the sand 70% of the time.

NTPRacing#19
07-17-2004, 08:29 AM
yea if brandon is that fast then he should run pro or def pro am.

quadchick3
07-17-2004, 09:18 AM
I was wondering the same thing... Sounds like he'd be a bit of a sandbagger and i assume somone would protest him. 16-24 class is the fastest class (other than the pros of course), some of their lap times were as fast as the pros at high point pa.

If he's fast enough to beat byrd and race 16-24 then why the heck is he in a C class??:huh :huh

300extreme#8
08-09-2004, 12:58 PM
yea he's racin b class now but he wrecked the other weekend and fractuered his leg, he won his motos in 16-24 here and was runnin as faster maybe faster then the pros,he's just the one to keep ur eye on around here ,u will find him at lorettas ,he'll be in a big red trailers that says stout racin u can't miss it pulled by a rv

well brandon is coming to watch but hes not racing because he broke his leg again. and he did run with joe but i dont think joe had to cut track to pass him. and when they did run that 20min moto i think brandon was the only rider there that wasnt pro or pro am. and joe got first and brandon 2nd. and he moved up to B here recently. once his leg heals and he builds his endurance back i think he wil be moving to pro am before long.

and the reason he isnt pro am YET, is because he just now moved to B. he ran C for 1 year, and thats perfectly legal. and he moved to b in about febuary maybe even later. so he isnt a sandbagger
