Will 450R shocks work on a 400EX? I'm just wondering cuz I have the opportunity to grab a set of fronts. Thanks.

Yes but they are just a bit wider so you will need to grind a little, take you time and take off a little at a time. They work much better, I rode one set up that way. But keep this in mind, the shocks are soft on the 450R so add 50 pounds more quad weight and they will get softer. But they offer adjustment that the stocker do not, and for less the $100 you can get what ever spring you want for both and put them on yourself.

50lbs difference between the 400ex and 450R? :huh Last time I checked it was 350lbs vs 375lbs.

Last time I put my 400ex on the scale it was closer to 400 not 375. Just because Honda says it is does not make it so.

Oh I know all about the factories lying about their weights. But what makes you think they didn't fudge the 450r's weight as well? Not a big deal about the weight, just thought I'd put my 2 cents in.

Dry weight is no gas and no motor oil, motor oil is +/- 7ppg and we hold 2 quarts so +/-3.5 pounds and the gas tank was dry. So bro that = 378.5 not 400lb.

Dynofox I just read a test and the 450R came in right at the 350 mark a friend just put his on a scale and it was under 350 but he had a good bit of light weight parts.
