We will be there but doubt if Michael will get to race. He took a pretty good spill at Tibbits. We spent 2 1/2 hours at hospital and am waiting for a MRI Tuesday. We were trying to see if they have a work average in Iowa but can't find anything in the rules.

Are you guys talking about the OMA race in Waukon. If so, check your calendars again. The race is on July 31st. I will definetly be there. After getting 3 second places in a row running the pro class I need a win.

I ran there last year and it was a pathetic track. It was a whopping 3.5 miles long - I never seen so much lapped traffic in my life. There were a lot of rocks & dust. It was fairly tight in what little woods there were there.

Quad-416ex,
No, this race is one of the Iowa ATV harescramble series races!

FD Racing will be there, we just got back from the Penton and have a bunch of work to do this week to get ready but we will be there!:D

Have you heard anything about the kid's track? We are going to camp out Saturday the 17th , stop by our trailer for some cake since it's Johnny's birthday and he's turning 40.

Prairiewrench
07-12-2004, 10:14 AM
Nope, he didn't say too much because I was racking up the roaming charges as we spoke but knowing how he loves the kids races it should be another fun one for them!
We will also be there Sat. hopefully in the morning and pitching our tents!

i'll be there with the rest of our normal(or abnormal) crew. we reserved rooms at the Sportsman Motel in Dorchester,IA it's under 10 miles from the track. i hope this track is a little more woodsy than it was for the WORCS race last year. but if it's 12 miles long it will be.

see ya there! #119

Hello Everyone!

We have been up at Waukon the last two weekends at the track. It looks like it should be 10-12 miles long. There will be rocky terrain, very tight woods, places to open it up, hills, ponds (do not enter - ha!), logging trails, fence crossings, barns, cattle shutes, a little bit of motorcross - a little bit of everything.

There is a campground in Waukon that has an aquatic pool - no sure of the name of it or if it is full. There will be primitive camping at the track.

Take 76 through Waukon & out of town for approx 8 miles north - turn right at Grandview this will be gravel about 3 or 4 miles then turn left at Cedar Tree (I think) watch for orange arrows.

It is also Allamakee County Fair this weekend in Waukon. There will be motorcross races Friday night.

Anyone that comes, make a point to thank all the Colsch Cycle guys & gals and Byrnes' (land owner) for making this happen. They have done a lot of work and enjoy the sport as much as the rest of us.

Thanks to our sponsors...VanWall, Great American Outdoors Motorsports, Advantage Cycle, Titan Tire, Moose Racing, IMDA, C&C Cycle, Cycle Country, Scott, Ancra, Pivotworks, Hot Cams, Douglas Wheel, EBC Brakes, NGK Spark Plugs, Polaris Racing, Uni Air Filters, Victory Motorcycle, ATVA, Champion Motors, Mototees, Lightning Motorsports, Kelly Cortum, Inc, American Adventure, Corner Car Wash/Spray Zone, North River Ridge Runners ATV Club And for all of our Hole Shot awards for every class at every race....CERTIFIED RACING!!

Sorry, Johnny, forgot to answer your question.

The little kids track will be neat - there will more timber than in the past - some tame motorcross made just for the kids. It is fun to watch these little guys & gals have a good time racing.

We will be there to sing happy birthday to you.

Sorry bout my first post. There is actually an OMA (Parts Unlimited Off Road Motocycle and ATV nationals) at Waukon on the 31st of July. I am running that series. This promoter put on the WORCS Eastern series race at waukon last year.

Michael will be out for probably the rest of the season. Had the MRI and he has torn the ACL and the Maniscus (spelling ?) cartilage is severly torn. It is the shock absorber. Will have surgery. We are to set up the day to have surgery tomorrow. He wishes you all good luck and to ride safe. He thnks he will heal fast enough to be able to finish out the last races. But momma don't think so. He is a determined rider so will wait and see. Thanks Matt and Dave for thinking of him. Will keep you all upto date on his recovery. He says he will still come to the races and root for you all. Johnny: Is there anything we can do to help get the kids fourwheelers ready for this weekend? We won't leave till Saturday morning and sure hope they will make it.

07-15-2004, 09:56 PM
I`ve been working on the kids quads since the last race an really getting flustered we over nigthed some parts from al. they came today but Donny at the dirt shack didnt get the piston or cly. ready yet on chance`s Taylors was running great yesterday afternoon an we changed flywheel keys today an stripped the end of the crank going to see what we can get finished tommorow before srart throwing wrenches.Believe me I would set it out to let the kids race but if we can`t get Taylors going we`ll all have to set it out won`t be fair to bring chance to race an make Taylor watch... Fingers are crossed.

Do you have a brake caliber for a yfz you want to sell? Aaron worked on Michaels and he is just going to have to get one. Christopher Michaels brother may race his yamaha this weekend.

07-15-2004, 10:17 PM
He`s more than welcome to use the one off the yfz I just got if he wants to come to town an get it tommorow. I`ll be close to the shop most of the day.Got some powdercoating to finish up before the weekend the 90`s took up all my time lol

Aaron said the one he has they thought they got fixed good enough to get by this weekend and then they will find one to buy but thanks anyways. I sure hope the kids get to come. Sounds like Andy has set them up with a good fun track. Bradley said the 90 will seem slow after racing the 400. Ha.

Please work on her about that it`s been along going battle with us.The new yfz is hers . But we still have something around the shop she can race.Untill we get it going.I`ll keep watch for a cheap rear brake for mike.I`ll see what will interchange tommorow the yamahas are new to me.BUT ANY DOUPT ABOUT THE ONE HE NEEDS TO RACE TELL HIM TO COME AN GET TOMMOROW or anything esle they think they may need to use off it.

Hey Kim, glad to hear ya can make it!
I talked with Andy and he told us to bring extra tires, there are some rocks at this one that may get a few tires. He tried to clear most of them out but he said some still have sharp edges!

Heres one for all you riders, get in contact with all your sponsors, I've been talking with all mine and I've convinced a couple of them to jump in and help with the Iowa series! Any help they can give will make this series a better race for all of us!!! Also, get in touch if you can with the sponsors Andy has and let them know how much you like the series and the support they are giving, I myself would love to see this series be the biggest and best of um all!!!!!!:D

Come on Monica we need another female racer out there. Walmart will always be there and one of these days we won't be able to race. We will be watching our kids race in our wheel chairs. Well we got one of the 90's going , ended up being a ground wire loose .:) Still waiting on word for the other, they were putting the cylinder back on the quad when I left the shop for home.
Pam Thanks for the pit offer but I am not a racer . I love to ride but as far as getting out there and racing 2 hours straight , it's not gonna happen . I prefer taking pictures of the other racers and cheering them on . Can't see spending that much money for me to race when you'd probably see me leaned up against a tree slamming my Pepsi and smoking a cigarette.
I think that 79400ex is Mike Gregory .:p

He just thought if you was going to sell parts off of the 1600.00 Yamaha he might buy them but Monica may change her mind about racing and need them to make her go fast. Ha. Hey, Dustin! Hope you enjoyed getting to know what the races are like. I don't know if it was you, but I went by someone in the woods who looked about your age and the quad was on its side, (but there was a guy trying to help, too--was that you?)....I rode by and said, "Are you okay?" but I didn't get a response. I was just hoping it wasn't me who rode by and you thought I was laughing! I ask about every person I see on the side if they're okay just in case they need help or I can tell the next track helper I see.

The results usually take a while to be posted. I would guess not this weekend but the next.

I learn more and more at each race; keep your chin up, you'll have fun and they'll get better as they go!

YOU CAN DO IT:D send me your pix`s to monicac70@yahoo.com an I`ll try posting them.Get out there an give it a try at the next one.I found out that mt stem came lose at the bottom an my damper was set to high thats what wore me down so fast.plus 3 packs of smokes a day:mad: Trying to kick that one.

Yea that smoking really hurts your lap times!
Komatsu Kid just quit smoking 2 sundays ago he used to smoke 2 packs a day and was able to quit cold turkey. He even quit drinking pop at the same time its amazing I thought he would never quit:( If he can do it you can do it he already feels better:cool:
Good luck

Jason White on the Grizz dropped that far (3minutes) behind Alex Gronbach on my yellow Prairie because his wrist brace made his hand go completley numb so he stopped, took his glove off and took off the brace, then Jason caught back up because Alex decided to put Gatorade in his camelpak (bad idea) and on lap 3 Alex ended up stopping and pukeing his guts out til he looked back and seen Jason coming! I must say that Waukon race was one of the best this year in my opinion! I can't wait for the next one!
I have about 125 pictures to sort through from the morning and afternoon race, I will forward them to Andy and hopefully he can go through and figure out who is who!

If anyone wants podium shots let me know, I got a bunch of good ones!

We have not 100% decided our teams, we have been discussing running 2 teams this year but it may not pan out. As for Tommy riding one at the 12 hour,,, not as far as I know. Mickey has decided not to run in the 12 hour race so that left the door open for me to run my team on mine,,,,, maybe! LOL!!! The rear end blew out of it yesterday while trail riding! :(
Too much power??? :D

From what Andy told me is that the race will be held at Kyle Watson's Dads Farm he races in the B-class its 20miles closer to Missouri and it will be on 80acres and 6 mile long course or so. Of course this is only if we cant race at Hog Holler.

Kim, if any good came out of that deal, you made me really really want to straighten my frame out so my shiny new nerfs (on the garage wall) will fit and then I can use them instead of look at them.

You'll have to buy a day pass $10 & gate fees$10
Pro class is $40 entry
All others are $30 I believe
OMA puts on a good race, we would be there, but we have a District race this Sat. @ one of the best tracks here in MN!!!
Tell Duane to go back there & lay the SMACK down on the Pro class!!! 1st place pays out prolly around the same he won @ the last IATVHSS.
If your guys like it & have an open weekend off Aug 21 they should come up for the Millville, MN. OMA race too. Now that is a FUN track too!!! It's a NATIONAL track the TOP pro mx (bikes) get to race each year. Us quads only get to ride it 1 time a year now, when the OMA series comes to town.
See everyone Aug 29th
Good Luck!!!

& Be sure to let us know how they did!!!
