Alright, I am building a 416 motor, with a hot cam stage 2. The compression is 10:8.1. The gaskets I ordered from C&D have been on back order forever....and I have some races coming up and I really want to ride this thing. I was wondering if a stock base and head gasket would work, or should I wait for the gaskets from C&D?? Thanks for any help -Nick-

I want to leave it at 10:8, so what would happen if I used stock gaskets??

I am pretty sure your compression would stay the same. You could check Planet Honda or Dennis kirk for Cometic gasket sets.

Using the stock gaskets is fine. They will work up to a 416 no problem. You only have to go to the overbore size gaskets when you go 426 or better. Get a stock top end gasket set and youll be cool. If C+D cant get them try East Coast ATV or Baldwin's, I know they got 'em. Cometic has been out of stock of their own gaskets for a while and has had trouble filling orders, so if you ordered cometic that is the reason for the delay. One of the 2 I listed above will definitely have the top end kit for you and if for some reason they dont, call service honda...

you can use a stock head gasket but it is only recommended up to a 406. after that, a 416, 426, 440,etc all have their own specific sized gasket your supposed to use.

oh yeah, C&D said that Cometic sent them my base gasket already, but no head. Could I just use the cometic base and the stock head???

i do think you will want to use the 87mm headgasket, not the stock one. here is a link to back that up a little bit:
