is it hard to turn when the front wheel are off the ground? doe both front wheels look somewhat aligned? maybe the bearings went bad, i heard the bottom bearings on the stem have gone bad before

mine was hard to turn after I rolled it on concrete...
bent steering stem, bent upper stem mount bracket, and bent tie-rod.

It was light as a feather when the wheels were in the air and on my stand but once on the ground.... Think of it as a free steering damper.

You might want to make sure that your tie rods are ajusted equally, you might also want to make sure that all your a-arm, tie rod, and steering stem conections are tight.

tire pressure would make it a little harder to steer if your tires were soft but thats probably not it
