I just bought a stock 2003 TRX300EX Honda. I need help on making it woods race ready. I have never raced a quad, but have raced bikes for years. I need help with tire size choice, a muffler choice, and a good hand guard choice. If I like racing this quad I will mave up to a bigger one. I have been practicing on my property for 2 weeks and have been looking at Holeshot and Razor tires. What size tires will work best on a 300EX for woods racing/riding.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also plan on getting back into GNCC/NHS like I did on my bike.

For XC you will need Skids, Steering Damper, Tires, shocks, and a-arms ;)

how much you lookin to spend?

I would get some beadlock wheels, Razr II tires, Nerf bars, Skids, +2 Lonestar axle, +1 A-arms, 400ex shock relocator and some 400ex Elka's, Elka or raptor rear shock...to start off with...

I really don't know how much I want to spend. I figure tires and pipe is the way to go to start. Then Nerfs and Hand Guards. I live in Southern Indiana and will ride Sparta GNCC, Black Coal NHS, Crawfordsville GNCC, Illinois NHS, Casey IL local races, Mid -South HS Series races in IN, KY, IL. That's after I get used to this thing in the woods, I used to race GNCC/NHS/VCHSS, as well as any close local Hare Scrambles. I practice on my own property (7 Acres). I also ride in the Coal Pits and Stripper areas in this area. I need to know TIRE SIZES to run, I have stock F 22 X 7-10, R 22 X 10-9 tires, what are the best sizes for woods riding/racing. Which pipe/silencer/exhaust gives best low end for a 03 300EX for the least buck. I plan on getting used to this 300 EX, then move up to TRX 450 later.

Thanks, trying to get back to woods racing.

on a 300 i liked 20-11-9 razrs on the rear and 21-7-10 or 22-7-10 on the front.

So that's normal size on front and smaller rear. Does it handle and steer better that way also? I tend to stand quite a bit from the bike days. I do like the Razors. Thanks for the advice all is greatly appreciated.

yes, 22 inch fronts and 20 inch rears is the best size combo, HMF makes a good pipe, get a good white brothers air filter and some skid plates.

if your just playing around with 300ex's and want to move up, i wouldnt do much more than that.

if you decide you like your 300 and want to race in the sport class, i can help you with some serious 300ex mods

Ok 22 front, 20 rear Maxxis Razors. Hand guards, pipe, then see how I like it, sounds good. Had a FMF Titanium pro series pipe and silencer on my CR250R, loved the power.

7-10 on the width and thickness correct??????

get some decent skids first, the stock ones on the 300 are garbage...after u get tires and exhaust i would look into a raptor rear shock, and then some +2's up front, burgard are what i got and you can't beat the price either, and some nerfs definelty

here is a pic of the setup i run, burgard +2's and elkas

I live in Newburgh Indiana, next to Evansville which is on the Ohio river. We have the Black Coal National Hare Scramble in my County. Lots of great riding here. I was a bike rider, got old, now trying a quad. Have my own tight woods course set up on my 7 acres all woods, pretty nice to ride, no trouble, no cops, no *****y neighbors.
