Im bought a AC swingarm skid, and I only ran 1 and 1/2 laps at the wisp, and i went back to race a local track the following day, and when i unloaded my 4-wheeler, it took me about 30 min with a hammer and a big rock to get my skid plate straight, and back on. Anyways to get back to my point, I want to spend alot of money on a skid, but i dont want it to be a peice of junk. I wanted to know what kinda swingarm skids that you all run, and what brand makes the toughest swingarm skid for a 400ex! Everyone opnion will help!

see you on the track

PRM stuff is awesome...

Currently, I am running a Pro Armor skid and am very happy... This thing is fully gussetted and has held up to absolutely anything I have thrown at it.

Pro-Tect makes a stainless steel skidplate that is supposed to be very strong as well.

As for the stainless i heard it doesn't absorb the impact as a aluminum will. It will just pass it on to the next part which is ur swinger. But i think the stainless will hold up to the most. I have a pro-tech and its took a beatin.

I agree, AC swingarm skids SUCK ***!!! Super weak, aluminum construction that cries for its momma whenever you need it to handle some nasty obstacles on the trail... (the reason you BOUGHT the ****ing thing in the first place....)

I agree PRM, we have the .190 skid and works well others have ordered the .250 and I would be amazed if that ever dents or brakes :)

PRM, .250 on the swingarm... I have the .190 for my frame because the .250 was on backorder at the time, even the .190 is nice but unless you run mud all the time that is rock free grab the 1/4". Pro-Armor supposedly redesigned their swingarm skid to copy the PRM, I haven't seen one so I can't comment.

I have 1.5 years, 98hrs on my 1/4" rear swinger skid and it has a couple of scratches and maybe two gouges from hitting big rocks. All the welds are still holding as well, about the only negative thing to say about it is that the plastic chain guard is starting to pop up a bit and rub on the chain, nothing that another piece of plastic or more rivets can't fix. I'll probly fix it when I reassemble my quad. (bought it for $85?) I also have a PRM front Bumper, they have perfect welds and are stronger than my Suzuki Frame@!

I have a Pro armor skid and it is holding up good so far :D

I would say that Protect makes the strongest skid though, that stainless its pretty impressive! If you want to spend the $$ on it go for it.

i had an AC swingarm skid on my quad. after the Rausch Creek GNCC it was cracked in 5 places. i had it welded to try to buy me some time ,but the next district race i did the skid broke off at the mounts. i wasn't too happy that i spent money on junk. lesson learned. DO NOT BUY AC SKIDS IF YOU RIDE OR LIVE IN AN AREA WITH ALOT OF ROCK!

the AC belly pan is still holding up, but it now has a few NEW moutning holes from the rock and i've had to replaced the hardware after one race.

i just orderd a PRM swingarm skid, i hope it holds up for more than two races.

my ac heavy duty has held up pretty well...been thro 4 races...it has only 1 small crack in it that is easily fixable...my ac belly pan is perfectly fine...but i would agree that the prm swimger skid is probably stronger...that was what i was gonna buy...but my sponsors didnt carry prm they only had ac...and if they did have prm it was at retail...which i most definantly didnt want...but ya the z skid on the swinger is most def prolly the best skid on the market right now

I have the PRM .250 Z-Plate and the .190 Full Chassis skid and they have held up great. I will stick with PRM from now on. I was also going to mention the Badger skids. They seem to be very good, along with Pro Armor and Pro-Tect.

My 400 came with a DG Baja swingarm skidplate on it and lets just say it did it's job. Over a weekend it was beaten to crap on huge rocks repeatedly, it obviously bent and what-not but not to the point of disrupting my sprocket or brake rotor...I am impressed with it because I could care less if it bends, I can always bend it back, but at least it did it's job of protecting the essentials on my swingarm.

This is the first time I actually approve of a DG product!
