View Full Version : Hub Nut
Could anyone tell me the size of the castle hub nut on a stock axle?
I lost mine while riding last night, I was going almost WOT and all of a sudden my rear/right tire was in front of me.
I ended up in the ditch and the tire was about 100 yards ahead of me in a swamp, took a few hours to find it!
Now I need a new nut ;) and quick!

Yer not the first guy to lose a nut riding one of those infernal machines!
Honda Part # 90304-HM5-A80 (18mm castle nut)
also . . . .
Honda Part # 94201-40300 (Cotter Pin 4.0mm x 30mm)
. . . betcha need one of them too ;)
Is there any cheaper alternatives?
OEM castle nut is priced at $15.00 CDN, withouth the cotter pin.
They also said it was a 20mm nut?
would an 18 or 20mm nut from the hardware store do the job?
thanks

Dude, its 15 bux. Your axle costs mega. I'd go oem if it were me. Info I gave comes from the oem parts book available at www.servicehonda.com
. . . . woah -- I just realized I'm giving you info for a TRX450R. Is that what you have? If not, check service honda above to verify for yourself just to make sure so I don't get you all messed up here. Good luck!
Have fun!
I paid $5 or $6 american at a Honda shop.
Service Honda lists them for $3.70 but they have a minimum $8 shipping charge.
Call C&D Racing;)

Dude, just go OEM if youre using the stock axle and forget about it. Call C+D about it... Keep in mind that if you have an aftermarket axle you will probably need to contact the axle manufacturer to get a nut (no pun intended), since they are usually larger...
It's a stock axle.
service honda says $3.70 USD, I believe, for the 18mm. when I called my local dealer they said $15.00 and tax (CDN)
They also said it was for a 20mm nut, which isn't right either
If there is a cheaper route I would rather take that. I know $15.00 isn't all that big a deal but it's more than I want to spend on a nut!
Maybe I'll just make one out of 2 mangos, a toilet paper tube and 2 pipe cleaners.:D
