Of course me and my crew, we only live about 45mins from the track(short cuts). Weathers been strange around here. So it could do just about what ever it wants over that way. I feel a little more prepared for this race than the last, I went to a district race on sat and a young boy there kept me on my toes. He was a very smart rider and was even in front of me for a couple laps. I really needed that and I look for this young kid to be a up and comer. I think he is in his late teens and runs the pro am class...669 was his number.
:D
See you all there!

07-06-2004, 06:18 AM
I am dropping my trailer off Friday morning then heading to work. I just found out I have to stop by a job site that day. so that means I am heading almost 3 hours due West and the 3 hours back.

A car will be ok unless it rains, its just that the parking area is small.

For me the real question is which quad?
Honda
Cannondale
LastLast
:D

Still an easy answer.

LastLast doesn't have a gas tank (being replaced for free0
Cannondale is in pieces (maybe back together Thursday night)
Honda new and shiny and ready to go (hopefully the front bumper shows up in time).

One more thing guys, remember weather racer production does it or not. This race is in memory of a District 11 and GNCC pro rider Joey Kish. Who had the race of his life last year with his one and only podium finish that he was not allowed to enjoy do to not being a pro rider at the time. So lets all take a little time this weekend to say a little pray for him on the start line before we race just to let him know he will not be forgotten.

See you all at the race

Mike

I will be there along with Bob Fleege, we're bringing a couple of the guys from the FD Racing team along. One to run in the utility mod class and one on his yfz 450, not sure what class he plans to run in yet. This is the last race Tommy gets on my FST Prairie,,, after the race it comes home with me for a more relaxed life of sitting in the shop under a cover! LOL!!!!;)
You can't miss our trailer, it has 2 huge 12 Hours of ATV America on the sides!!!! If you have any questions about the 12 hour race you can stop by and talk with Bob or I!!!

All this talk about dust and mud. What is the track like, flat, hills,
ruts, fast, slow, etc. What can we expect ?

Pappy
07-07-2004, 10:17 AM
i thought it was a cool track, except when i raced it the dust was too bad :( last year the mud took over:p

the course wasnt that hard as i remeber it, the conditions were the real test!

Just a normal tack with easy MX track thrown in. Some hills but nothing major. That is unless it rains :macho

07-07-2004, 10:21 AM
it's not all that hilly
it's not all that rock
it's not all that open
it's not all that tight
it doesn't get that rutted.
has a really good MX track

pretty fun track not hard at all.

some people kick me for thinking this BUT I did think the track held up extremely well last year even with all the rain. the darn tree branches that were covered in mud were not fun hanging in yout face. and the fact that it continued to rain during the race provided a mud mist coming off your tires. But the track didn't rut out too ungodly impassable!!!!

I don't care if it rains or not I am just ready to race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Man I felt for you atv riders last year. I had a spot on the corner of the track to spectate. Right after you came out on the track you made a hard left before the fence. On the first lap it seemed like 50% of you ended up in the fence. It was raining cows and horses your entire race. A big thumbs up to anyone who finished that race.
As for the ruts, they showed on sunday something fierce. To this day I have never ridden a course that had ruts that deep. Some spots you could see where the footpegs made there groove 1-2 feet below the surface. But the worse part was the mud was getting Tacky so when you put your feet out to get through the ruts they picked up all the mud you could imagine. It was like ridding with concrete blocks strapped to your feet. It was my first time placing at a GNCC so I loved it. I am not that fast but I was not giving up like everyone else. It paid off.
A couple guys from the club let some atv guys beside us talk them out of racing that day. They still regret it.
Thats my first Penton story and because of the extreme conditions i will never forget it.
Jay

Will be there pitting for my Quad riders and then for the Mini and Bike races as well. Have not missed a NHS or GNCC at this track since 1990 (wife and I went there for our honeymoon for NHS in November of that year) Jeff and Howard do a great job and maybe the weather will cooperate. Really have a good safe MX track there that will surely be part of the loop. My wife Becky will be out in the woods radioing to me so give her a shout as you fly by (her cast will be off Friday so she can cheer as usual)
