Well, I was looking into getting one of those carb vent hose kits. When I land from a jump, the motor bogs for a second or two, and that makes me loose valuable time in a moto (especially while chasing 450s!!!). Do those carb vents work as well as they're advertised? Would a 38mm Lectron carb fix this and giveme more power?

I have heard that lectron carbs have the same problem. The vent are for two stroke carbs I think. You might want to try an fcr carb.

ok, should I be better off getting either a carb, or head porting, and a high comp piston?

i would say no on the carb. i just didn't find much of a gain with one. i haven't tried a ported head so i can't comment there either. however, a cam and piston opened my up pretty good.

I would go with a piston and a cam. Porting doesnt do much on a stock motor. and carbs usually cost alot.

I'm guessing you didn't get a bigger piston?

A friend of mine had installed a 416, ported his head himself, Stage 2 cam, and has a full exhaust. After he added a FCR39 it was like adding the 416 kit again...impressive gain.

I just noticed that you have a cam. Then a high compression big bore piston(a 416 or so) will add alot of power. You will have impressive gains with this setup.

I will be adding a Wiseco 416 piston with 11:1 compression in a couple weeks, but for now it will just be the cam, pipe, filter, and jets.

Get an FCR39, you will notice a huge difference.

the vent kit helped with the bogging on mine.
