well ive only ridden a dirtbike a few times and i really liked the yz125 i rode, so id have to say go with cr125.

the yz125 won a few shootouts vs rm125 cr125 kx125 and the sx125

my friend had a yz125 now he has a yzf250, he says the 250 is faster, he says its a little heavier but its barely noticable. He said the suspension is better, i think the only downfall he has is that its harder to do a good holeshot, but i think its because hes not used to it yet.

I heard the 04 CRF 250 suffers from under steer and the 04 CRF 450 suffers from over steer. In the MXA test, the yzf was quoted..."for the more serious racer." They said it was set up better for mx (suspension, motor, power delivery, etc.) Then the crf came next. They said they blew a fork seal 3 hours in and broke a hot start lever as well as a shift lever. I would say Yamaha if you're looking for a 250f.

my friend just switched from a CR125 to a crf250r he said it's like night and day, he says it's not fair to compare them the 250 is better by far. That kid used to preach 2-strokes but ever since he rode that 250 he's now a 4-stroke man

i do like four strokes more, maybe i should go to a 250f or crf250, my friends tell me i ride my 80 like a 4 stroke :o

I love honda but the cr125 has electronic power valuve and its not the fastest or most powerfull 125 to buy, but then again its prolly the most reliable, id say go with the crf250r.

forget the honda, get the yz125, i hate bikes and i got on one once, and with in 15mins i was riding like i owned it. was never able to do that on my friends CR, RM or YZF450... but the 450 is understandable. the power and handling of the YZ is very smooth and controllable but still able to go balls to the wall when needed. the CR didnt come on strong enough and the RM came on at the woste times. the YZF just isnt a beginners bike. we all know that

A friend of mine has a '03 CR125 and it's an OK bike...I heard the Yamaha's were quicker, so I'd probably go with one of those. Everyone around here loves Yamaha's and isn't really a fan of Honda, they take care of their Yamaha's so they don't fall apart like everyone complains about...

If you want something that is more rideable and easy to take advantage of the power, you'll probably want to go with the four-stroke.

Good luck with whatever choice you make and always make sure to wear a helmet.

The only reason it'd blow up is because of you abusing the crap out of...as long as you take care of it like you should, it will last you forever.

Good luck and tell us how it goes.

I don't know if you'd want to put anymore money into a bike you plan on getting rid of.

Or do you plan on keeping your 80 and getting another bike also?

I'm kinda thinking since you are already on a 2-stroke, a 125 would be a better idea for you. Get a YZ, they are pretty quick and can be reliable if you know what you're doing.

Mxjunkie
07-05-2004, 09:44 PM
probaly going to keep it, or try to atleast, i started out on 2 strokes, ive had 2 4 strokes, my friends tell me i ride my bike like a 4 stroke so idk what to pick

What do you mean by that? If you know how to ride a 2-stroke to it's full potential, and not whine about it like some people do, then I'd stay with the 2-strokes. If there was a reliable 2-stroke quad out there that had the power of the 450's, I'd get it in a heartbeat. But that's just me, I love 2-strokes.

they said i ride low in the rpm, which isnt a bad thing they think your suppose to ride in the powerband all the time but that would be really hard on the motor

Well if you always stay in the low rpm's, it's obvious you don't. I can pop a wheelie on my Banshee...doesn't mean I know how to ride it:p . (I can by the way:) )

Btw...if you like low-rpm riding, which it sounds like you do, go with the 4-stroke. It should be able to pull pretty good on low end and have some good mid-top, just not the same as the 2-stroke.

i dont ride like low low rpms, i just dont ride in the powerband the whole time i ride, do i look like i know how to ride it yet :p

No offense or trying to flame you, but anyone can jump off a tiny mound of dirt like that...doesn't mean anything. I would believe you if you sent me a video of you riding around the track. Oh and riding in the powerband isn't going to hurt your engine.

i'll try to get a vid soon, yeah i kno ne body can jump off that but thats pretty good for a crappy jump
