IMO If you want a badazz gun and not pay over 800 to 1200 dollars i would get a impluse. IMO impluses are the some of the best guns made, they dont cost 1200 dollars (about 550 depends where your shoppin) The non vison models are damn near indetrucable, have plenty aftermarket parts avilablie, i could just go on and on about it but it would take to long. lol I would have one my self but im fousing pretty much all my money on racing and quads. But if your on a buget I got a pretty tricked out sypder electra DX i could sell ya. and by no means it the badesd in the world but it gits r done pretty good!

get ahold of "Seamonster" on here you won't find a better dealer, or a better guy to buy stuff from. Chris is top notch, and played Pro ball for quite some time.

PS he also races with us in the GNCC

I personally have a Tippmann A-5 with some mods but for the 400-700 range you should be able to find a nice used Angel somewhere. Angels are nice guns. Other guns you could consider in that price category are the Bushmaster line made by Indian Creek Designs, The Smart Parts Impulse, or maybe an Autococker if you like them. The Cocker will be a bit more maintenance but that doesnt matter if youre good about maintaining stuff. All them are more in the speed ball category bt if your into just woods/scenario play you could look at the tippmanns or Armotech. Really you need to narrow down your type of gun you would like for us to give a better recommendation. Electric or Mechanical guns? Speedball or woodsball type gun? HPA or co2?

Spyder's are a good gun to start with. Tippman is also a good gun. Dont get something to expensive to start back up with again.

I don't think he wants to spend 1400$ on a new gun. I have a 98 custom with a few things on it and im satisfied. I think you should go with an a-5 with an e-grip and a flatline barrel. Most of the guys i play with have that and its a deadly combination in the woods. Plus Tippmann stands behing everything they make. If something happens to your gun just send it in, they will fiz it for free, then send it back. They are based about 15 minutes from my house. I went to visit the service department there and the people are really nice.

You don't really want a high-end electro gun. For the woods you want reliability. The A-5 comes right apart and is easy to fix. The e-grip lets you shoot in 4 or 5 different modes, burst, auto, semi, and there may be others. Then the flatline barrel adds about 75 feet of distance to your shot by giving the ball backspin. Check out clicky (www.tippmann.com)

You can also go to the forums there, going through the players tab, to ask questions about the gun. Hope this helps, and good luck finding a gun you like

Thats not such a good idea man, my dad just told me that he read in the paper that a group of kids who live a few miles from me got charged with a Misdomenor for shooting at an Un-marked police car. Wow that's a bad coinsidence.

Angel Speeds are under 800.

For a mechanical I would consider an automag. I guess I am kinda biased being thats what I have but they are the most realiable marker out there. They require nothing more then cleaning and a couple drops of oil every now and then. You can pick them up on ebay for around 200. Modded they are real sleepers. Mine gets a ton of looks and no one ever has any clue what it is. They are heavy though.

For an electro I like the ICD BKO. I think they are around 340 new. With a few mods they are very nice. For a single silinoid(sp?) electro they are pretty fast, 18+ bps which is faster then anyone can consistently pull anyway.

I wouldn't get an A5/98. They are OK in the woods, but they are loud and horrible on gas (expect only 4-500 shots max out of an RT A5 with a 20oz CO2 tank). Don't be fooled by the Flatline barrel system either, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Sure your range may go up to 250 feet or whatever, but if you hit someone from more than 150 feet 7 times out of 10 the paint doesn't even break. 10 times out of 10 it doesn't break at 250 feet. If you want to go all out, get a Timmy. You won't find a new one for 400-700$ though, possibly used though. You can get an Autococker with E-Blade for your price range. Bushmasters and Impulses are nice as well for the price. Just remember for all higher end guns (ie all the ones I listed, and every other gun over 500$ that isn't a Tippmann) you are going to want to run it on HPA, not CO2. Set aside another 150-300$ to get an HP tank.

I actually just upgraded to a Kingman EM1 (exactly the same internally as a Bushmaster so don't try any "Spyder sucks!" crap).

airhead - almost all pros can pul at 20+ bps (double trigger of course).

And yea SRH, that is lame. That's eqivalent to taking your quad and riding around the streets with one of those stupid "shorty" silencers and doing donuts in people's yards. Gives the sport a great reputation.

I love how people want to "fix" others with paintball guns. It's not like getting shot with one hurts that much, it just feels like getting flicked. It would be cheaper to just go around flicking everyone you don't like.

Meh if you want a good solid gun i would just go all out get an angel or high class cocker or dm4 or matrix or standard dye matrix something of that class...dont waste your money on a tippman or a spyder (xept a spyder em1 i had one and they are high class guns!) ok i made my point:p

I wouldn't want to take a nice gun in the woods. I would be affraid of screwin up in all the bursh and bushes. Like just today i had to lay in 3 feet tall weeds with my gun layin down on the ground, then i had to get up, and my gun wacked a tree. Playin in the woods, stuff happens cosmetically to your gun. The A-5 is a great gun. in fact, im only one of the two or three that doesn't have an A-5 with all the guys i play with, and thats just because i keep spending money on my quad, and not my paintball gun.

Not consistently. I have seen a guy pull 27bps over the chrono on a gator triggered Matrix, but only for an 8 or so round burst, and that was fanning. The fastest I have heard of is around 15 consitently walking. THere is no way you can fan a trigger with much accuracy. I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time :p Some of the new reverse polarity magnetic triggers are so insane now. Its like clicking a mouse, but with less resistence.

dm4 or matrix
A DM4 is a modded matrix with different milling.

Personally I don't like autocockers. They are nice shooting but there are a lot of moving parts there. If anyone chose that route the eblade is the only way to go even though it is taking a marker already far removed from the original intent and taking it farther(autocockers are pump guns!!). It does make it a little more idiot proof. The electronic 3 way makes timing much easier. Mechanical 'cockers are a PAIN to time.

Good back players (guys on Dynasty, Tontons, Iron Men, etc) can walk at 20bps+ consistantly (and for a hopper-full). You know the backer motto - "One case no kills". And as you hinted at, almost all pros can hit 20bps but not for long.

Kinda hard to imagine pulling a trigger consistently every .05 seconds for 200 rounds.:eek2: I guess with a de-bounce or reactive setup it wouldn't be that hard but I am sure they have been outlawed in most levels of play.
