I have a CT racing slip on right now w/ 12 disks on it. Does anyone have experience with going from a similar set up to a turndown or open endcap? How if at all did it affect performance and jetting? Thanks for any replies.

I dont know if it will affect performance all that much, but personally I would do it... My experience is that the disc system SUCKS! The CT looks and sounds better with the turndown.

I dynoed my 727 Raptor with both. 20 discs/closed end cap versus an open/race tip. It made ZERO difference in power. The 20 discs/closed end cap is noticeably quieter however.

Ct's website says that on the raptor and 400ex they no longer offer the turndown tip because it makes less power than the turndown tip. Allen knowles says the discs also make more low end. ctracing.com

Thanks for the info Raptoraz, that is helpful info as are all of these posts.....I will be trying no endcap this Sunday, to see how that works. Are jetting changes necesary when going from one to the other?

No endcap ?!?!?!? I think you should get a turndown, looks and sounds better I think.

Kind of like the turndown, as there is a end plate with a 2" hole in it. Turndown may come after I see how this works, comparing the flow this way is a little cheaper.

Does the turndown neck it down any?

Well, I ran the pipe full open for a while and was not pleased with the results. It pulled strong in the mid range and top end, but the low end was lacking the usual snap that I normally have. Also, the torque seemed lower on the hill climbs.
Sooo, I put the 12 disks back on for good. Works good again, those CT pipes really work well!

Here is my endcap after some polishing and sandblasting.......

I don't think you should run it completely open, maybe try a turndown. I think it's your backpressure, its pretty much a straight pipe if you run nothing.
