The western Maryland weather was perfect for another weekend of GNCC racing, and racers began scrambling for pit areas Friday afternoon.

With the ski resort being on the side of the mountain, level parking was at a premium, but could be found if you knew where to look. This parking area was up along the back side of Pro Row.

Also, part of the course at the Wisp is run on pavement through the pit areas.

One of the coolest things about the Wisp and a crowd favorite is the Ski Lifts that take you up the side of the mountain. While you ride up the mountain side you can watch the racing action below your feet. The lines for this attraction get pretty long during and before the racing begins, and is included with your admission.

After the pros, went through the paved road pits they screamed across a dirt round that was a complete dust cloud. John Natalie Jr hammered through the dust, but began to get blisters on his hands and decided to call it a day because he couldn't risk being slowed down next weekend at London, Ky GNC.

It is great to see riders like John Natalie Jr cross over and race the GNCC series! I will have to explain to John before the next race the benefits of wearing Blister Resistor gloves.

With Bill Ballance cruising in for his 7th Overall this year and Matt Smiley in chase, the battle for the final podium spot became intense as William Yokley lead Chris Borich through the last stretch of fields along the slopes to the finish line.

The Three riders involved in the controversy at the Patriot all found themselves sitting securely and cleaningly on the Podium at the Wisp only two weeks later!

I could tell during the race that these three riders were on a mission to prove that they didn't need to bypass bottlenecks to win races, and they proved it in grand fashion!

Bill Ballance gave a thumbs up after a hard race!

Admin
07-02-2004, 01:55 PM
I don't think I have ever saw Matt Smiley smile so much after finishing 2nd to Bill Ballance:cool: It was obvious that he had alot to smile about and to prove!

#316 Jathan Seale came back from a slow first lap after I believe having a flat tire. He dropped back from 4th to 7th early in the race.

He trailed Tyson Thomas in the 2nd lap who would eventually DNF the race:(

Admin
07-07-2004, 08:05 AM
By the end of the race, Jathan was able to work his way back up to 4th place after passing Rob Hertz in the last lap.

Admin
07-07-2004, 08:12 AM
Rob Hertz has definitely taken well to the new 450R. He has been racing almost stock machine all year and has been doing extremely well. Last year, Rob ran into problem after problem and had 5 DNF races and wasn't able to keep his #12 Pro Number and dropped back to #45.

This has been an incredible year for Rob with his worst finish all year being 31st overall at Georgia. Congratulations Rob on a great season so far:macho

Now why would you go and say something like that, just to piss him off? It looks like you suceeded. That looks like flaming to me and you know thats against the rules here. If you want to pick on people, follow it with a J/K, so we will know you are just joking and we mods wont put our foot in your A** and boot you off the site.

Those are some nice pictures... About the only thing that you are missing are interviews and a list of equipment/mods that each rider had, then again if you did that you could sell it in a magazine. All those pics sort of puts you their in person, a missed trip if you will.

I met him Friday night, at the track. I wish I wasn't so busy at the time, would of liked to talk to him a little longer.

After he found out who I was, he cut out real quick. He must have been afraid that my 11 year old son was there. lol
