Any brand of dampner will make a huge difference on how your bike steers, think of it like a shock for your steering.

I have never ridden with one.
what does it do?
should this be my first up grade?

It takes the hits and jolts of of the steering like a shock does for the suspension. Yes, it should be one of your first mods.

I like my PEP but don't love it. Main weakness is that it only has three settings and cannot be adjusted on-the-fly (you need to remove it to adjust it). I have it on the stiffest setting now and could actually use a little more when I really start flying. If I had to do it again and was still on the low budget (less than $2000, I'd prob go with a Denton. I think they go for $170ish. Just my humble opinion, don't take it as a slam...

I have never riden with one but have been told by a few people that it can make you lazy b/c of the ease it takes to turn.

A dampner will hame it harder to steer. Sounds like you guys need ball joints and or grease your upper stem bushings.

well, my arms have Heims and they are brand new, just put on, but im taking my stem off to paint it sometime, so i'll grease it up there when i put it back together

Did you take it apart and grease it? Have you checked the lower bearing?

The PEP dampener hooks up differently than the Denton/Gibson etc. What you need to do is hook up the one end that is not a U-clamp to the left side motor mount and then run it up and clamp it to your stem. It doen NOT mount in the front like the Denton or the Gibson does...

Wow, thanks for the pep pic's, I have an aftermarket over-sized oil tank and doubt very much that would bolt on like you have it. When I get one, it will probably end up being a Scotts. I have heard alot of good things about them. The only draw back I hear is that they are in the high $400 range. Reaper
