sanding plastics

I was thinking of wet sanding plastics to get big scratchs out. Has any one did this? I was going to use 800 then 1500 then 2000 grit. The only thing i need to know is what type of plastic buffing compound would i use to get the fine scrattchs out?

clear coats or plast renew

ive heard people say that these last a while and others say they chip off instantly or wash off, so you might wanna search for these

i just wet sanded and then used a propane tourch on it. It turned out pretty good. thanks for the info.

I've used plastic renew on my last 3 ATV's and have been impressed with how it turned out. I've never had any problem with it chipping off from riding or washing.
