Do you have skid plates that might be rattling?? Are you sure it's the motor??

Double check those skid plates. I had a rattle on my bike and I had no idea what it was. I thought it was the valves too but I was wrong. The rattle was coming from the right front corner of the skid plate. I had to hold in that exact spot to stop the rattle. I just overlooked it.

Check all the little odds'n'ends and if it isnt that it could be the cam chain tensioner or the cam chain bein real sloppy. It kinda depends on what kinda rattle it is.

;) Can confirm this. 5 bikes in our little group out here in the very hot desert sands of Arabia have the same problem all attributed to the heat Deflector shield on the Exhaust. However 2 bikes also had a rattle which could trace to the skid plates. :eek2:

it has no heat shield it has a curtis sparks race pipe. i think we cure the problem with adjusting the valves and doing an oil change.. thanks for everybodys help

ur cam chain tesioner is on the back side of ur cylinder head and ive had one go bad on my 400 but i might just be loose just take it of and its pretty simple to figure out how it works and then just tighten it.

hope that helps
