my tip.. Start really small and keep going trying new things to ride em' higher and farther.

EDIT:

I do em' on 2nd or 3rd on pavement. Dirt is to inconsistant for me. Sometimes it grips REALLY good and other times it doesn't also the traction could be differant for each tire causing you to turn.

you'll get the hang of it with time, i tend to pump it a few times before I finally pop it up so that the quad is rocking back and fourth helping me to pop it up easier when I finally get on the front brake.

whenever i go to do a stoppy with my 400 the tires lock up and it does a little bit of a skid:huh

when i was doin em good at the track it was on a slightly downhill slope. Nothin too much or ull go right over but just enough. Grab the front brake and hope for the best. :p

Its easier if you go on a downhill, but its also easier to fall forward so be careful...

if u really want to get serious about these stoppies, u might want to consider some aftermarket tires, maybe some razors or any tire thats not a balloonish one. and what really helps is getting some stiffer supension. what happens when your trying to do a stoppie your shocks are taking all the force. if u get some stiffer ones they wont take the force as much which will send your back end up. good luck man, ride safe

Lets make this easy for you.Get a friend you trust.Roll up to him in 2nd gear to do your stoppie,he is there to help you find your balance point,He should be standing directly in front of you and placing his hands on the front of your shoulders to help keep you from going over.Hope this helps.

the front tires on my 400 are really slick so i can only do them in the street, but my dads 400s tires are basically brand new and i can do stoppies in first gear in grass and i think it is easier with the shocks set softer so they will give under the weight of the quad.

I do em in 2nd, sometimes 1st. If i'm goin slow, i start out on the back of the seat, then when I hit the brake, I throw my weight to the front. It helps get the back end up. Course, I usually don't ride em, just get it up in the air. Just work on it, you'll get it. I still suck.

Steel braided break lines help a good deal
